Besides the fact that Biofuels are the most absurd energy replacement, almost as silly as hydrogen, the USA has created a huge programme based on becoming self sufficient in energy.
Chronological:
[*]Countries, such as Venezuela, are able to tell the USA to go "f' themselves" when it comes down to oil, nationalizing of oil interests, etc... and there is nothing that the USA can do but cry, and ********** slowly in the dark.
[*]George Bush thinks of a plan to screw them, with help probably... maybe from Dick and Haliburton. Not related of course.
[*]USA heavily subsidizes Biofuels Industry in the USA.
[*]Wheat shortages occur as arable land is now used for Biofuels (which makes sense... using tremendous amounts of energy, land, and water to create a new "green fuel" for the eco-niche market that is growing...)
[*]Prices of wheat and other crops rise dramatically in developing countries
[*]100 million people now drop below absolute poverty level as they can no longer subsist on $1 a day and ten years of poverty development get erased in months.
All because George Bush wants to show people like Chavez, Morales, and the other leftists bunch that he can also hold them as economic hostages. Have fun drinking their oil!
PS. Genetically modified crops are evil.

Yeah, he signed the horrible mess into law, but don't forget about the rest of the government, right and left. Actually, nobody in the government is smart enough to see that their energy policy is a fucken joke.

Ethanol is a ------- joke as are most bio fuels. The amount of energy required out make that ---- is astronomical (land usage, chemicals to aid in production ect...)
What could have some promise is this ---- I read about called micro-diesel:

Basically these bacteria are able to produce finished diesel fuel, which only needs to be run through a filter to filter out impurities.
These guys estimate that their bacteria used 65% less energy input to produce, than ethanol. Alos, diesel has 50% more energy per gallon than ethanol does.
The only problem is people being afraid of "genetically modified things". People are so stupid. Most of the food you eat has been tampered with (growth hormones, genetically modified crops....) already, so why hold these guys back?
