|
Re: getting a rhd in washington
yea, i know some one who imports, half cuts though, and its realy hard to get whole cars through you need special liscenses and ----.... the, easiest way is just to weld the front end of the half cut, ie from firewall forward to you orginal car...

Re: getting a rhd in washington
ehh too much wrk.. i think
|
Re: getting a rhd in washington
u can ship one for about 1500 but the rest i dont know.
was thinking of getting a skyline 2000 for car and 2000 to ship it and a neather 1500 for turbo motor. but there is allot of paper work on the rest. |
Re: getting a rhd in washington
---- that there is too much ---- you got to deal with if you're bringing one over from Japan... if you want a RHD EG hatch, PM me i got one for sale... ;)
|
Re: getting a rhd in washington
bluehatch. why dont you put your rhd civic on ebay?
ittl fetch a pretty penny guarenteed ;D |
Re: getting a rhd in washington
its easier to just buy a car that has already been converted
|
Re: getting a rhd in washington
you can buy the RHD conversion for like 400 and just weld in the firewall and be good to go. but if you want one that is already done get bluehatchs red hatch. a friend of mine made a RHD corolla, looks pretty sweet.
|
Re: getting a rhd in washington
Just drive across the border and pick one up in Canada then it should make the paper work easier and less hassle with no shipping docks etc. There is tons of importers as it seams everyone and there dog is driving RHD cars and trucks here now.
|
Re: getting a rhd in washington
i might be getting a hatch for a decent price and was thinking about do a conversion if i decide to keep it. would keep me busy for a while. did bluehatch ever post pics of how he did it or anything?
|
Re: getting a rhd in washington
well the thing is i already bought a b16a1 with lsd y1 trans and i wnated a rhd if i could get it im in the middle of biulding the motor and i dont really want a conversion to sloppy i dont want a car thats been cut inhalf and rewelded.
and the guys that said your selling your rhd how much and are the conversions or real thing o and years that is if your close enough to me. do they sell rhd in canada or are they just easyier to import up there thanks everyone. |

Well my car hasn't been cut in half... it was done right, via the firewall swap. It is not as easy as it seems.

Re: getting a rhd in washington
whats not easy about it ???
your just cutting a firewall sticking the new one in. welding it up. and plug and play dash :S any retard can do it :l hahah just shitting you ;D i respect you for pulling that off. that takes balls ;D ill be going to florida or cali to find me a mint hatch and only then will i even consider doing a rhd conversion.. but with the shitty rust they have here in michigan its not worth doing it to a pos car :l i might try it with a shit40sx ;D |

|
Re: getting a rhd in washington

Re: getting a rhd in washington
thanks for the site but they only got one auto crx gay
|
Re: getting a rhd in washington
got any other sites and anyone know were i can find out how much it cost in us like a candian to use dollar caculator
|
Re: getting a rhd in washington
Here is a calculator.http://www.xe.com/ucc/. RHD cars are legal in Canada as long as they are 15 years old and pass the basic provincial[state] safety inspection. This is why there is so many running around and importers are everywhere. That being said a EG hatch wont be legal here in Canada until next year or as soon as its build date is exactly 15years old.If you tell one of the importers what you are after they will find one for you or might already have one. Most people are after Skylines,MR2,300ZX,180SX etc but there are also a few rhd Hondas popping up.Try some of these importers and there is tons more just google it.

Re: getting a rhd in washington
im looking for a ef really becuase i got a cable trans how hard is it to get them legeal in usa
|
Re: getting a rhd in washington
Oh in that case EF's are fairly easy to find especially a CRX.A SIR is usally a little expensive but the lesser models like the SI which comes with a ZC are fairly cheap. For importing I would call your local DMV or similar.I know alot of people have been interested in bringing RHD cars from Canada to US so maybe try posting in the EF forum as Honda Tech someone there might know more about it.

Re: getting a rhd in washington
i was looking at one of those sites up there and seen a 91 skyline for $5000. how much trouble would that be do you think to get into the US and get it registered?
|
Re: getting a rhd in washington
Is it really that much cooler to drive on the Right side :S
|
Re: getting a rhd in washington

Re: getting a rhd in washington
holy ----. the prices of the cars on some of those sites is outrageous.
my bill is looking like this so far: my hatch: $1400 degregestration fee: $100 container which I can also put more than just my car in: $5000 so its costing me $5500 to take my car back, plus I can put a bunch of other ---- in the container as well. i could probably put 2 or 3 cars in the container for that much accually. its $5000 for the container costs, no matter what is in it. that includes ship fees, dock/port fees and customs fees, then the container delivered to my destination in the states. BTW, my car wont be street legal. my plans are to buy another civic for really really cheap and put the plates from it onto my car. In indiana i could get away with it. |
Re: getting a rhd in washington
These guys have good prices but you have to pay for shipping which i was quoted 800-1000CDN or 700-900US.Importing cars in Canada is a great business to get into i dont dought they are turning a 50-70% profit on them.
