Gasoline Brands...

i allways tend to use Cheveron, 76 and shell. Well my brothers friends insist that gas is gas and there is no differnce :-\ i think there is but i would like to hear what others have to say..

Re: Gasoline Brands...

Gas is gas and there is no difference, plain and simple. It all comes from the same pipeline. The only difference is that some places use additives. Whether it be to raise octane or burn cleaner, the gas itself is all the same.

all gas isnt the same, I would never run sheetz or any other cheap brand gas in a boosted car.

Read my post. All gas is the same until certain places use different additives, if any.

Re: Gasoline Brands...

exactly, which is why some peoples 93 octane isnt actually 93. theres certain brands of gas here that i cant put in my stock crx or it wont run right

Re: Gasoline Brands...

in spite of that, im still willing to spend the extra 20 cents per gallon getting shell v-power or chevron with techron than arco's dirt :-X

^settle down boys!

I go to holiday gas stations because they are the only ones ive found in MN to sell 93 octane as their premium grade fuel. Everywhere else sells 92.

You are an idiot. 93 octane is 93 octane. You can legally have a higher octane rating being sold as a lower one, but not the other way around. If someone is changing the labels/gas/price ect, you can't blame that on the brand of gas, it is simply that franchise.

But like Jago said, it is all the same until the companies add ----. Shell has V-power, Mobil adds detergents, Holiday adds clean burning ----. It is all the same gas for the most part though.

I've noticed that BP has 93 octane and it makes my car idle like ---- (IACV going bad type symptoms) but when I put Speedway 92 octane in there it idles at EXACTLY 750 RPM like it should.

my local shell v-power does the same, 750 exactly at warm.

Chevron=Texaco
http://www.chevrontexacocards.com/cc...chevron-v1.jpg

I buy Chevron when I can and then any name brand gas when I can't. There is a difference though, I can smell and taste it. Chevron gas smells so good and sure as hell taste better. ^-^

Most of the stations around my house (sw ohio) have 93 octane otherwise they have 92, couple of stations around here that sell Turbo Blue. Guys in and around dayton area know what i'm talking about, for those that don't it is race gas something like 100 octane i believe.

I'm from Maryland and usually do mid-grade (NA ZC for now, turbo kit coming). I am more concerned with price of the gas than I am brand/kind.

As a side note, I have noticed that a lot of Sunoco's in Pennsylvania have 94 octane available in addition to 87, 91, and 93. Just a heads up. later,

dude.. octane rating is octane rating.. that ---- is defined by the percentage of pureity that the crude is refined too the government sets those at the refinery.. the only additives they add are those ones like techron that clean injectors.. they dont add that bullshit octane boost stuff.. and then post up that the 87 is now 93

Re: Gasoline Brands...

I only buy BP/amocco premium. I try to stay away from exxon or any other stations unless I'm desperate.

could run anything, then add some octain booster.
could go to an air feild and get the good ----.

Re: Gasoline Brands...

For the people that think gas is gas, pay attention to your MPG. When I get shitty Raceway gas (always 91) I only get about 31 MPG. When I use Wawa's gas I get about 38 MPG. Never can seem to find a Chevron around. When you watch your mileage and keep track of things you will learn which gas stations to avoid. I had a site like bobtheoilguys site but instead of oil they compare gasoline brands and MPG but I cant find it....

premium octane will give you worse gas milage then 87, just so you know.
