Conquest/Starion gets my vote. Almost bought one, but some idiot bought it before me ($4k for one with 22k miles on it) and is now trying to resell it for $14k :S I just love those cars so much. What would be your plans with both if you were to buy them?

i love starquests, conquest in perticular... i would def buy it i think if the guy comes through... $1500 for it with 70k miles.

the stingray has a shitty carb'd low comp 350. its like 220hp or something.
plans on it would be cam/intake manifold/4bbl all of which i have in my garage right now. and a blow through turbo
i also have a set of forged 400 pistons, if i bought a set of rods i could build a 383 with forged pistons that would rock my world turbocharged.

the conquest kinda worries me since i think it would take big money to make it as fast as my stang is now... although they are sweet looikin, and have nice black leather interior

ohh and about the stingray, its a lame ass auto... and most of them you see are. that would have to be changed, i could steal the 4spd out of the camaro 8)

See now that's a plan, the starion body style gets me hard i must say, but to much money to fix and mod, teh vette isnt my cup of tea, im more of an 80's g body g machine kind of guy but it is what it is, with teh four speed and a blow through it would work real well, for the stroker you need the 400 crank as well right? besides, when was the last time you have seen a even halfway quick early 80's vette..? They just dont get built, to many idiots thinking their car is fast cause it's a vette...so they leave it stock so as not to mess up teh value..come on..value? Yah i was always under the impression that teh stroker motor is a 400 crank and rods in 350 block, simply a stroke change and not bore?

Re: Funny stuff

i take the turbo stingray over a the conquest any day. Thats just sex right there.

J-SMITH69 01-25-2006 09:17 AM

Re: Funny stuff

i left out the 400 crank, i have one of those too

i always get confused on how it exactly goes together.

i believe its: 400 crank, 400 rods, and some custom pistons something to do with where the pin is. in a 350 bore.

or i could just find a 400 block, and use all the parts i have already

J-SMITH69 01-25-2006 09:18 AM

Re: Funny stuff

the guy wants 4k for the 81 stingray, the paint is a little rough, but he said it runs and drives nice

i will offer him 3k cash

Take it for a spin, and if you like it, whip out the cash.

when I did my 383 that was in my porsche 911 it was 400 crank rebalanced with mallory metal(drill and press), mains turned to fit the 350 block, 350 rods(5.7 inch I think), custom pistons.

Re: Funny stuff

go vette! I had a 78 pace car, I have since sold to my dad (couldnt afford to put it back together), that thing was sweet. Handled like a pig, but the 4 piston calipers brought it to a stop nice and quick, deffinately a badass looking car though.

How much are you selling the stang for?

tr4cti0n.i55ues 01-25-2006 03:41 PM

Re: Funny stuff

def get the vette and turbo it. and when i was reading the email i was expecting it to have at least a turbo . i like the old gti but that would have been one of the stupidest trades ever

It looks as if youre leaning towards the vette, anyway what would you do to the sexy Conquest to produce the power youre looking for? 4G63?

no, as far as im concerned ---- the 4g63 :) never been a fan of that motor even though it is a good one

i would swap to a bigger turbo, and think about swapping a v8 in

Buy the starion/conquest and put a small block with a blow through in it.Have you ever driven one of those Corvettes? There is a reason no one wants them, they are a insult to the Corvette name.

the reason they are an insult is because of the smoginated 190hp motor.

they have IRS, and big brakes, and handle decent. plus they're totally white trash 8)
