No, a mercenary is someone who is hired to fight in wars, but isn't affiliated with the country. Say, Britain was fighting the Swedish (for soem reason lol), and they hired all of HMT to fight for them as mercenaries (paid soldiers). That's all that is.

Why couldnt he just forgive? If the above IS true, that means there is a power higher than God that he had to appease in order for the sins of the world to be forgiven.

Well bigmike, I can see that the media has overly stimulated your hatred towards Muslims and perhaps if you got meet a few Muslim people you would change your mind. I'm Muslim I know my religion quite very well and have been raised most of my life (16 years) in Egypt (a Muslim country) and was born there. If you ever get the chance to go to middle east you will realize that these "Muslims" who fight in the name of Allah are hated as much as they are in the west. I'm not telling you to love Muslims, however I would like that you have an open-mind about Muslims. I don't like the idea that you would like to kill me just because I'm Muslim and in someway you would be doing the world a favour. And about the translations, no translation can be 100% accurate in any way and that is due to the differences between both languages and the Koran was meant to be in Arabic.

Slo13, I know you might be targetting your question towards Christians, but I would like to answer you according to my beliefs. First, Jesus is NOT the son of God, but rather a Messenger from God that preached Christianity. And according to my beliefs also, Jesus was NOT crucified, so that God would forgive anyone his or her sins.

If everyone believed in nothing the world would be set. I would kill in the name of freedom and saftely ---- this religion bullshit cause you believe there is a god i know there is not a god. People need to take responsiblity for their actions. Do you seriously believe if there was a allah or god he would not make his evil followers pay for their sins? how can a person believe blindly when there has never been divine intervention to even make people feel there is a god or allah. just realize we all our fucked when we die and will turn to dust and live our lives the best of our ablity and live in harmony but that will never happen because of religion. just ranting and raving, sorry.

biggmike, I'm not going to try and convince you with my beliefs because I know you won't. I have my reasons to believe what I believe. And if you take a look at the miracles of the Koran you might get an idea why. Anyways, I only demand respect from you as a Muslim, not just for me for all Muslims. There is no reason to make blind generalizations about 1.2 Billion people (1999) which represent more than 20% of the world population and growing at 2.9% each year, faster than total world population at 2.3%. Anyways, like previously mentioned... many innocent Muslims are killed by Americans in Iraq and no one can prove otherwise and many Palestinians (Muslim, Christian & Jewish) are killed by Israeli soldiers. So don't look at Muslims as blood thirsty terrorists, cause till now it seems that your more blood thirsty than I am.
