Default ------- computers again.

i know i suck at life, so dont bother. my question is, with windows vista and windows media player, i should be able to see my files on my laptop from my desktop in the other room. both comps are wireless and on the same network, but i cant find my movies, music or pictures on my laptop from my desktop. i have used every option windows media player has on both comps and still nothing. someone help a retard out. reason i ask is cuz my laptop keeps over heating while im burning movies (but after i sprayed some compressed air in it, its doing a lot better) and shuting down. So if i can just transfer the stuff from my laptop to my desktop, i can burn from there using the windows media player dvd burner. it works onmy laptop pretty well, even if it takes an hour or two, but only if i have a fan under my comp.

they have to be on a shared network and you have to share the C drive or move the ---- into your shared folder to be able to access the file.. you cant just access files from the laptop just like that.. you gotta set it up to do so...

vista sucks so im not even gonna try to figure this one out :P

Firewalls could block it, you could be in different workgroups, you might not be sharing anything, could be a number of things.

To check your workgroup right click on my computer and click the computer name tab. Being that you don't know what a workgroup is, they're probably all at their default, "WORKGROUP" If you do change it. You have to restart all the computers for them to show up.

DISABLE the firewall and try that. You can put it up later.

Make sure you're actually sharing files from windows. Right click and go to sharing and security.
