---- man, if you've never heard of an exhaust bearing, then you've never heard one go bad either... You better go make sure yours are ok.

Re:FUCK!!!

yeah, you guys don't know pain until you have a muffler bearing fail on you. Turbo's wear them out faster too. so be careful. :o

Rolla1990 04-23-2003 06:16 PM

Re:FUCK!!!

I've also heard that 65% of engine failure is caused by a spun muffler bearing! So you better make sure to change your exhaust oil every 4,000 miles or else!

airtonics 04-23-2003 06:49 PM

Re:FUCK!!!

Yeah this one time on my 79 trans am... I had a dual flowmaster exhaust and one of my muffler bearings went bad. You know when one goes and you dont realize it right away then it ruins the other muffler because of the added flow.

Needless to say I ended up spending another 150 again on the two mufflers.

Check them asap mufflers can get expensive!

Re:FUCK!!!

Re:FUCK!!!

Re:FUCK!!!

Or just take the muffler off completely. No muffler, no muffler bearing.

Fin.

Dr.Boost 04-23-2003 08:41 PM

Re:FUCK!!!

I can't believe you guys go through those so quick. I have had mine for almost 3 years and no problems whatsoever. I even had the muffler shop check them last time I was there. I guess I'm just better about changing my exhaust oil than you guys. You really should be more concerned about these maintenance issues. I have pics of what a bad muffler bearing can do. I'll see if I can find them..........

Here are those pics I was telling you about. This is what happens when you don't keep good muffler bearings in:

Remember, use ONLY genuine Honda muffler bearings, and be certain to replace the kinifler pin at the same time.

I've NEVER heard of a muffler bearing? are they in all cars??? what the hell do they do!

Dr.Boost 04-24-2003 07:06 AM

Re:FUCK!!!

::)And then we have people like this that don't even know how to change there muffler bearing. Just take it to a shop and have them do it. They shouldn't charge too much for it. Also have them, change the exhaust oil while they have it apart. It will save you a headache in the future.

I think this entire thread is just ONE BIG GAG. Exhaust Oil... get the F@@k out! LOL

Im not that gullable!

Dr.Boost 04-24-2003 11:32 AM

Re:FUCK!!!

Are you serious??? Look it up in your Haynes. It should be in there. Haven't you ever cut a muffler in half?? You should do it sometime and you will see. The "exhaust oil" is not actual circulating in the exhaust. It is in the muffler. When you don't change it or keep oil in it you will freeze the muffler bearings up. Look how dry that muffler bearing is in the top picture. That is because he let it run dry which is a big no no.

I'll be sure to check to check the muffler oil next chance I get.
