I think it technically legal so long as theres no airbag. Personally I use the front seat in my 1991 Celica (no airbag) I figure if anything happened and I had to get her out in a hurry It would be alot easier/quicker from the front seat.

if something happened like a truck ran into the side... yeah good plan, to bad her head would be in the fan shroud. put the kid in the back, and in the middle, its the best place for them, no matter what kind of accident, most area for the car to bend before hitting the child.

if your dash gets pushed into your chest as a driver (think head on collision), it will move the same on the passenger side. having a kid in the backseat, this will most likely not effect them as it would if they were up front.

children are supposed to ride in seats a certain way because their muscles aren't developed enough to handle an impact if there was one.

anyways, just don't put a kid in the front seat of an automobile. and don't get a CRX for your family car.

i guess none of you looked at the link i posted... basicly no car seat is safe in any car crash...

carseats are the biggest peices of mind safety ---- you can buy... all this "put your kid in the middle of the back seat" ---- is the most assinine thing i have ever heard... thats just mental safety... mentally you feel safe but no matter what its just a plastic tub with no more padding than a vynol dash... im not trying to be funny im serious... statisticly proven there aint ---- you can do...

i guess thats not good enough proof that majority of cars seats are worthless... out of a 0-100 score... 50 being average... this is how much child safety seat companys care... it looks like my college grades write before i dropped out...
price score
Baby Trend Adjustable Back $90 64.

Graco SnugRide EPS $90 61.

Chicco KeyFit $150 34.

Peg Perego SIP $230 27.

Compass I410 $130 26.

Evenflo Embrace $70 25.

now if thats not proof enough that weither your in a crx or a fucken lexus your kid is not safe then im sorry but its to hard for me to spell this ---- out in crayons for you people

Britax Companion $190 20.

Graco SafeSeat $150 18.

Safety 1st Designer $120 16.

Combi Centre ST $110 12.

The point is, if the car seat is in the middle of the back seat it has a much less chance of coming into contact with a colliding vehicle or folding sections of the car. The car seat will not get to that point where its coming into direct contact with something.. If you have your car seat on the rear sides, the chance of your child seat impacting anything raise greatly. If you are in a CRX, this also raises the risk. The car is a peice of 14 gauge sheet metal, with no real reinforcements. It would take the other car much less energy to breach the doors of a car like a CRX than it would hitting a stronger, more reinforced car like a Lexus. Whats so hard to understand about that?

my point is that a car seat isnt going to save ----...

the thread was forward facing child seat in a crx... i am saying a car seat in general in any car isnt much of a saftey device... so weither it be a crx or a minivan the kid is still going to get tossed around... and if the car gets into such an impact that the frame is crushing around the car so the engine comes threw the firewall ... it doesnt matter if the kid is in the back seat on the roof or in the trunk... the kid is fucked... not to mention the driver is dead so then who gives a ---- about the kid... cause now the kid is in an orphanage.

The car seat works as a restraint for the kid while he's in the car. If you think they're worthless, put a 1 year old fragile child in the front seat of your car with a regular seatbelt on.

It's just a kid. You made the one you have now and can make another if you need to. Now a CRX...you can't pass up a good CRX.
