Ford I-6 HMT turbo ?

Any of you guys ever think about turbocharging a straight six that comes in the ford trucks ?

Just been thinking that if a 3.0L I-6 in a supra can make insane power, I wonder how much power a 4.9L I-6 would make !!!

Does anyone know if they made a fuel injected version of the 4.9L truck motor ?

I'm thinking about swapping it into a fox body stang... ( of course turbo(s) would follow right behind the motor swap ;D

The Supra engine makes insane power because it was build to make that power...awesome flowing head and pretty much overbuild engine for the stock HP rating

mustang made a turbo edition. its a older SVT model. its a 2.3 ltr, and can make some really decent numbers. my uncle used it in a street stock race car at a local track. its bullet proof. I think it came stock with the waste gate set at like 9psi, so I think it could handle around 15psi. I would consider this option if you want to run a turbo mustang. why change a good thing...

EDIT

I found some links some I scanned through, some I just posted...

the 300ci 4.9l i-6 in fords is pretty lame. they're known for getting a wrist pin knock before 100k. i've got that motor in my F150 and it sucks. its got no power, its horrible on gas. 126k with a nasty wrist pin knock and it'll probably die soon. try it, but i dont think the motor will handle much power for very long.

at home we have a 4.9ltr in a 4X4 truck, and that bitch is a monster. that thing will pull antything, go through anything, and it awsome in the MUD. We cant find another motor like it. In a pulling contest, it usally kicks some ass.

wow dont I sound like a redneck. (just a contry boy)

Wrist pin knock is a problem but they will knock for 150,000+ miles :-X They do have pretty good torque, but the horse power sucks and they die if you over rev. I think if your going to swap something in you would be very sad with the 300. They did come with efi from about 87 on.

I would rather have a 5.0 but thats personal. you can get the same gains from it, and it weighs alot less.

how many people do you see with a drag 460?
you dont. or at least any of the 10 tracks ive been to.

go to a mud race and you will see them in a truck that drag races in the mud. ;)
