flooded peice of junk?
ok my 99 civic dx got flooded from katrina. so my mechanic tells me that it is now worthless and i should try to unload it.
anyone here have experience with flooded cars? mine flooded up to the cup holders, and a few weeks after it was running.... but not well. it gives me a cel, and i took it to go get fixed but he says that no matter how much money i put into it, its going to be wothless because the salt water will just corrode all the wiring etc.
what do you guys think?

How much?
Can you hook me up on more flood damaged Honduhs?
They won't be worth much to me as it's labor intensive to go through and freshen the drivetrains for resale (my intent) and such so they're good to go, but one or two whole cars with clean titles might be of interest. Gut them, replace the wiring harnesses, and I'd have more racecars yay!!

Re: flooded peice of junk?
NEVER buy a flood damaged car. The FBI has been tracking the VIN # on cars that were in the flood(this was on the evening news) to make sure they don't end up being sold to anyone. This is only cars thar had insurance on them so watch out. All the electronics are junk on these cars. They will also rust in strange places because the water has been inside the car where the metal parts are NOT protected from rust damage. Places like under the dash, seat springs and inside of the doors.

In some states its fraud to sell a car with known defects and not tell the buyer. If you sell it, be carefull
