flat rate head gasket swap
the last time i took the heads off this engine, i read the wrong torque specs and under-torqued the head bolts by 35ft-lbs
lol, lets just say the head lifted and caused some irreversable head gasket damage. its to my understanding the after one torque these stock 5.0 head bolts are garabge, i dont have any cash right now, and i need the car. so the bolts go back on overtorqued 10 ft-lbs... as if it would made a difference :-\ anyways, replaced the gasket, pulls more vacuum now. i loaned my timing gun to a friend and dont have it, so i set it to a nice idle and i guess i better not get on the gas until i set it right ;) oh, it was flat rate because i reused the IM gaskets and just siliconed up the front and rear IM gaskets :) i also bought a real fitting for the drivers side turbo. instead of the stock elbow tube thing that was on there before. if you look close you can see it lol pics and little video 8) https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/Mustang/HG1.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/Mustang/HG2.jpg https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss...ang_idling.wmv |

Re: flat rate head gasket swap
ive worked on a 280z turbo engine , toyota 22ret factory turbo engine, and a miata engine (twice :P) all were new barings rings and seals. built with factory parts. and all are living happy lives =)
ic what your saying...since they were used before you under torqued them they are still streached.....id say get a new pair ready just incase you blow another head gasket :-X |

Re: flat rate head gasket swap
the bolts are fine
what the hells with the boost gauge i thought it was to be 0 to u rev that it moves |
Re: flat rate head gasket swap
no, with the car off they sit at about zero.
at idle you can see 18-22 in vacuum, cruising about 10-15 vacuum, and in decelleration 22-26, and of course in boost you see positive pressure |
Re: flat rate head gasket swap
true
|
Re: flat rate head gasket swap
0 would be no vacuum (full throttle)
i dont know very many non-douche bags that full throttle rev their engines lmao |
Re: flat rate head gasket swap
ya how did it work with the fmu
