I would prefer more GHz for your processor, and how much RAM do you have?

Get a mobile 2600 xp and a a7n8x deluxe with the MCP-T southbridge and get some cheap 500mhz adata memory. ---- the p4 still to expensive for my taste. Also unless you are going to go on an agressive upgrading cycle i would opt on just getting a 6800gt video card because the 9600xt is way dated compared to the games coming this christmas.

Just to let in some insight my 2600 mobile barton is running at 2.5ghz 13 x 180 right now stable. My ram is queer as ---- though i need to just completely start out with a new socket 939 that is, when the new PCI-X boards come out on the AMD side.

AMD has always been my choice based on performance vs money. My budddy had a mobile and with my old watercooling setup in his rig it went 2800 and change.

i could probably run in 2650 range but i'm all air. Watercooling is too exotic too me unless everything just falls into my lap from the air. My quiet 27$ volcano 12 is suffice
