We were sheeting a roof today w/ this other kind of plywood called vantek board. I guess it was cheaper so the boss bought it.. it's more ideal for flooring. anyway, it doesn't have a rough side like regular plywood, and my damn paslode nail gun came loose from my tool belt and was sliding down the side of this roof of this building so i go running after it (500.00 gun). I jump and slide and grab the gun but i could stop in time and fell off the damn bulding. Luckily it was only like a 13 foot drop but i had alot of speed in the fall.. i landed on my feet but my legs are sore as ----. Boss wasn't there thank god he would have wondered why i "didn't have my company harness on (gay)". anyway, yeah it woulda sucked if i woulda snagged my leg on something on the way down and landed head first.

why is a harness gay? i have to wear a harness at my job alot. its not that gay when its keepin your from falling down 12 stories of decks cuz your right on the edge and there is no barracade.

lol the gun fell in a puddle of water and mud. it actually still works but my manager took it apart and cleaned it all out. yeah, i told the guys at work that, now they know how dedicated to my work I am, that i'd risk my own life for a damn company nail gun. hahahaha

My brother fell off a roof at about ~10' and shattered his ankle. I don't give 2 shits how expensive that COMPANY OWNED gun is, it sure isn't going to be helping my crippled ass walk into the ------- workmans comp office to get my shitty $200 a week so I can "TRY" to pay HALF of my monthly bills. ::) I know everybody does dumb ----, but this gave you an extra notch on the belt. :1

there is no way that i'd fall off a roof for a nail gun, even if it was mine. and if you got hurt, chances are workman's comp wouldn't pay you ---- since you weren't wearing the "gay" safety belt.

you got off really lucky

a client of mine owns a roofing company and fell off a roof a couple monthes ago and shattered his heal...it broke into a dozen or so pieces and it had to be screwed back together.

he was just not cleared to use a walking cast, almost 3 months later

lol luck is everything too. My dad has done construction for about 30 years, and about 5 years ago he shattered his shin and ankle going down a 4 foot step ladder-- it was old and shitty and didn't lock out properly and stepping down it started to fall backwards and his foot went through the rungs and got scissored by the ladder. He still can't walk right

The plywood is called advantec and it is used for flooring cause it preety much water proof for 30 years. Its not cheaper by far. But if that was me id watch the nailgun go by by. I feel 15' Its no fun But i got lucky and fell on a pile of sand.

Reading this thread made me lol. It kinda reminded me of this older man near my home who was doing some roof repairs on his house with a friend. They were using a "custom" wooden ladder. The friend went up the ladder first and told the man to be careful because the ladder was pretty old. The older man whilst climbing the ladder in a rough, stomping manner was like " dont tell what to do" half way through his stompin up the ladder (about 9ft) the ladder snaps in two. being in Health and Safety @ my work place i have to say this.

suck it up and wear your ------- belt. if they find you didnt you can get fired. They can fire you on the basis that you are a hazard to yourself and the company and you violated a LAW (yes, its a LEGAL requirement to wear that annoying 5-point harness).

you shouldave let the gun go. passlode guns are pieces of ---- anyways. mine costs $300 and wasnt worth ----. tell your boss that a pneumatic gun is the way to go even if it has a hose attached to it. its shoots cheaper nails faster with more power. if it started to fall off you could grab it by the hose. even if the gun where to hit the ground it whouldnt just go off and shoot someone. people are morons. new ankles costs more than a shitty nailgun.
