faster spool more boost? this is kinda crazy

now i can use a t44 on my 1.6 8)

I see it as effectively lowering the A/R. Faster spool, and higher exhaust manifold pressure up top. Just like a smaller turbo. sounds like a cheaper way of doing it that swapping housings. (if they are even available for the particular turbo).
Good cheap idea if the spool up is hurting bad enough. |

second gen rx7's use a system like that called twin scroll, at low rpm's one sid is blocked off then @ higher rpm's it opens both to give good exhaust flow. Evo's have been using that for years too

wow.. this is like perfect timing for me
i plan on low-boosting my GSR, with a fatty turbo, just cuz it's a cheap turbo from a homie and i only want to run like 5 pounds. figured i wont get anything till about 5-6K out of 9.5K but, now i can have my turbo GSR @ 5psi (with possibility of over 15) for like $500. sweet |

I like this idea.

Yes, this is like what Mazda did on the single turbo RX7s.

So really, if his manifold were designed right he'd just be capping off two cylinders. Wait... replace the pull cable with an old internal wastegate actualtor set at like 6psi. It builds boost fast to 6psi then opens when the EGT and flow are high enough to carry it from there on up into high boost. Wow... ghetto VNT. We gotta try this. |
Re: faster spool more boost? this is kinda crazy
thats an interesting idea. but the wastegate would have to be uuberlitously big.

Good cheap idea if the spool up is hurting bad enough. jeff should try this out on his hatch. |
