Faster dsl connection?

Faster dsl connection?
I'm on a dsl connection and while it's definately better than dialup(not by much) it's kind of lacking in the downloading department. Like downloading programs and music, i usually top out at around 25kbps on a good day, maybe 40 if it's from a fast server like download.com. Are there any tweaks or tips that the gurus can show me?
thanks.
thanks.

Re: Faster dsl connection?
No tweaks or tips really. It just depends on where you live and what services/speeds are offered. Here in madison, we have DSL that is almost as fast as cable. I am using cable and can download at about 200 kb/sec. When I had dsl last year I could download over 100 kb/sec. Call your dsl provider and ask if you can upgrade to a faster connection speed (if they offer it) or just say ---- it and go cable.
ACTUALLY now that I think about it, you can get dsl through SBC and yahoo very cheap and it's fast. My dad just signed up last month and it is super fast, at least 5 times faster than what you have now. Right now it only costs $14.95 a month! That is by far the best deal I have ever seen on high speed internet. Hit them up now.

Depends greatly on where you live.
Qwest offer 7MB DSL connections. You can get that guarenteed if you want for like $130/mo.
But they offer 128/256/512 ect. Best thing to do it call you provider. DSL has so many options and service levels. Cable is a little more simple. Either you can get the service or not. DSL is available in some areas but at limited speeds.
