I heard that on the radio today and just started laughing
Extreme religious right, southern baptist tv evangelist...in the past has stated that he is against abortion, homosexuality, civil rights movement, lack of prayer in school, etc etc

He was very much so against the civil rights movement as it was going on. He referred to it as the civil wrongs movement. However, I did not mean to imply that being against civil rights is a value of conservatives

Seems a bit extreme and uncompassionate, but I agree with his base ideas.
Oh a lighter note, my teacher still never raised my grade to the appropriate A- from the B+ because she feels I offended students and was out of line when I said "...homosexuals deserve to die of AIDS...". I was religously persecuted for my faith because I apparently gay bash.
