trying to figure out how much my friend can boost, he wont tell me so im expecting his pushing the limit....how much boost can the factory evo 8 turbo blow. i believe its the 16g turbo.

 

Ive seen a few guys on street boosting 16 psi, im sure they can go more, but i can vouch for that amount whatever it means to you.

 

yea, ive been lookin around and found 24.2 pounds a couple of times. and those people where acting like hot ---- cause of it. the reason why i ask is i know he normally ran 23 pounds and occasionally and apparently he can turn it up some more. he has alcohol injection so the motors not knockin. im just wondering if the 16g can handle that much. im a semi-noob when it comes to turbos, just know the basics. i know you can hybrid them with different turbo parts, but is there anything they can to with that one to make it run that high.

 

ya they can turn the boost way up the ecu retards the hell out of the timing and the turbo becomes very inneficent and they do not gain much power. evo8s are slow

Yeah, since a chip, exhaust and big IC pipes getting you low 12 second time slips, out hustling about anything at a road course, and then driving you to work everyday is slow and gay.

Evo 8's are incredible.


But back on topic. You can easily boost the stock turbo to 24-25psi if you have the proper fuel, tuning, and cooling setup. Otherwise you're wasting time.

I think 18. I know the STI has it set to 15 stock and rememeber hearing the evo is set higher.

 

i cant remember but i think its 18 stock. my buddy has one. and yes that ---- is slow. from a dead stop ofcouse its gonna launch hard. but from the top of second and on its slow
