i doubt you can put even 5psi on it with your mouth, johnny. I let mine run atmospheric all the time, i agree it is good to have a vaccuum on it, but the engine re ingesting its own blowby gasses severely lowers the octane of the incoming air/fuel charge and can make you detonate if you arent careful, when boosting

I installed a catch can and my car started overheating, after I went back to stock pcv valve and filter breather for the cam cover the overheating issues disapeered. the crankcase vapors stil get sucked out between shifting gears and being in neautral.

i have no idea how much pressure i can put on it, the point is that you can suck through it easy, but when you blow in it the valve closes almost all the way

so you went from suck, to blow? ;)

Don't some people use the exhaust for PCV systems like hot rods or something...oil vapors are pulled out into the exhaust flow..I think i heard this somewhere someone else back me up on this??

If you lock up the PCV with a crew or rubber plug, won't that ---- just get blown out the VC vent?

it would work pretty well that way if you had a very free flowing exhaust system, if you didn't, the exhaust gases could get into the engine crankcase, but that would probably happen more at idle.

you wouldn't want the vapors traveling through the oil passages. I have not done much research on the consequences of this, but I could imagine that at a high enough RPM it would create large air pockets in the oil system possibly causing oil starvation to certain parts of the engine.

there is always vapors moving through the engine no matter what, you cant do anything about it.

the pcv is for emissions purposes only. it has no performance aspect to it at all.
