So tonight me and my buddy headed up to the turnpike, the local spot to be on a fri/sat night. Loaded with just about every car you can imagine. Anyway, he drives an 05 saturn ion redline (same thing as cobalt ss) but the saturn version. Rated 205 stock but they are dynoing 200-210 wheel stock so needless to say they are pretty underrated. His mods are intake and exhaust. Tack on a 75 shot of the giggle gas and you have yourself one hell of a fun time O0. So we are chilling at a light and this 90-93 body style teg pulls up next to us and the kid is grilling the ---- out of us so I just smile and kinda laugh and he says "what's funny" and i'm like you'll find out soon enough. So hes like "I bet I will" and we proceed to the next light. I now notice he has drag radials but I know he has no turbo because he gave it a little bit right next to us and I didnt here ---- (no blower either). So hes like ok lets go right here... So I give my friend the button and tell him to rape this guy badly even though he probably wont need the juice. I figure hes got maybe a gsr swap with bolt on's. The huge AEM sticker on the passenger window lost him some brownie points on my scale haha. So we go from a dig and he pulls the saturn out of the hole about a car and holds that lead till about 100. The kid rolls down his window and yells "think twice next time before you laugh at a honda" I'm like what the ---- man were you spraying?? Hes like YES what the ----. So he turns on his dome light and one of the terminals on the button had come undone. HAHA so we pull up next to light and we are like good job, we were giving it about half throttle. Hes like bullshit, why would you do that so he tells us to turn around so we do and go from a low roll, hit the juice and pull him about 6 cars in one gear. >:D He catches us at the next light and is like holy ---- dude, this is a type r motor with i/h/e. I told him congratulations for on the biggest waste of money in honda history and we went on our way. Hotrex got a whip in the ion and can vouch that it fucks out

i will say i went for a ride and it surprised the ---- out of me. if i had to ass dyno ity id say 260whp on spray, lots of tq.... fun car.

Don't tell your buddy this but...those engines are built to handle much more :) The tranny on the other hand heh. What I dont like about it is the aweful wheel hop. They may be equal length axles but man is it horrible. Nice Recaro seats though huh? Is his wing still on lol? I noticed every new car I test drove those damn rear wings flap all over the place and the so called "close ratio" trans is not close at all. Very tall gears but overall they arent bad. Has he brought it in for the cam sensor seal oil leak recall yet hehe.

Beefier rods and better pistons than the 2.2 version and lower comp. The stock crank will hold 650 hp and there are rods and pistons available.

I hate lines like this. What do you expect? 200+ lbs of tq to any NA honda engine. Don't matter if it was a Type R or not. Supercharged 2l with No2? Boy that was a real match... ::) That car better be fast with how ugly it is. Gotta love body panels that shatter when hit.

Well, maybe if you read the story you'd understand why it's being belittled. Did the parts about him laughing at the Saturn and "think twice next time before you laugh at a honda" escape you? It has nothing to do with the set-up, it has everything to do with the person driving it and the illusion they have that their expensive motor swap made them Speed Racer.

Whats your point? Both cars make about equal numbers stock. My point was that he was expecting to smoke what he thought was just a stock 140 hp ion in his hype r swapped teg omfg!!11

I usually never reply as I'm just trying to learn here, but the original poster says that the type r engine is the biggest waste of money, when the ion is clearly a lot more expensive to just own than a 90-93 integra with a full hype r swap. was he cocky ? yes, but so were you two. If you are going to talk about money wasted, then you have to compare dollar for dollar performance.









SRT-4 looks really good compared to that abortion of a car that your friend drives.

Actually i don't have the type R because it is overpriced, and like I said to start, when you talk about money spent, you have to at least include the price of the car+mods, and yes that saturn costs way more than having an integra with a type r swap. :|

Taking in concideration of vehicle cost? Thats a retarded statement when you compare the years. Like mentioned the Saturn is 10+ years NEWER.

So...what did a 93 integra go for new? Roughly 23k NOT including the engine swap. So whos ahead in this stupid game? Yeah sure the guy driving it probably didnt pay that but why even state something like that.
