since when was hmt ever about making stuff as shitty as possible? its about getting it done with what you have to work with. i dont know why lately people have been purposely making stuff terrible when they have the ability to do it better with the same end result.

The essence of HMT is fluxcoring your mothers anus shut and not throwing a bitch fit about some dudes water cooling set up when he decides to not take your advice. Especially when it's advice he didn't ask for in the first place.

He asked for design ideas and if anyone had done it. He wasn't asking for life advice, how he should manage his personal expenses or to see pictures of your work. So don't be offended that he's getting annoyed with your persistence in asserting what he should do with his time.

I said go with the garden hose or find a cheap already made cooler, anything else isn't worth it.

If you came in here saying you had access to a machine shop and you wanted to make a billet engine block I would tell you the same thing, find one already made, its not worth it. I'm not offended he doesn't like me or my advice, he said it best, "you can laugh when I post pics of my setup".
That's fine, no hard feelings.

the thread is the essence of HMT

there does seem to be some hate towards having a nice setup. i think i have a pretty nice looking engine bay, but i didnt pay anyone to do any of it and i didnt pay much for the parts under the hood. i did it myself. i did do a half assed wire tuck though, but i didnt have chase do it for me.

Economically speaking, it's not worth our time to do 90% of the ---- that we do on here. It's mainly to satisfy ones proof of concept and deriving enjoyment from manipulating systems. Which is something you're not considering in your view point. Maybe the happiness he'll derive from building something on his own and proving his competence would bring more pleasure to him than spending money on a pre-made unit, saving money in the long run and spending it on some luxury items.

That's what I meant, they will hate absolutely, and everything, no matter how good or poor it is, while having nothing themselves.

I disagree, slightly...economics are what cause 98% people here to go this route, and then when they learn something and are satisfied from doing it themselves, they receive a different kind of euphoria than they had originally imagined.

I know this by just looking in the Classified Section here, all of the CDM parts for sale and wanted makes me sick, but its a supply and demand system.

I believe you're disagreeing because you're thinking with the goal of building a car in mind. I was implying that building fast cars is not an economically sound choice. The 10% (arbitrary percentage) I was referring to is at home general repair and maintenance. I was doing so because the utiles of happiness one gets from any action are relative to the individual, therefore quantifying the amount of happiness a person will receive from a set course of action is impossible. So these subjective arguments are more or less pointless since they can be argued from many points that are all valid to the person presenting the argument, but invalid to the audience.
