i just found out how much people have been ripoff by a shop in my town. for a d16y8 swap into a 4th gen hatch would be 3500. a b18 would run 5500. this is crazy because i actually know people who have paid this much for their swaps. the prices are like this because i am in santa fe, nm in abq an hour away it is only a third of the price if not less. i just wanted to know the different prices were you guys are.

ps this shop wanted me to drop a d16 into an accord. i know i am not getting my engine from them

I use to charge 400 for d swaps 500 for b when I use to do them

do what i did: a year ago i didnt even know how to change oil, but i blew my HF motor, so i had to do a swap, figured it all out.
rent a cherry picker, get a chilton and some tools, save yourself 3k

400 bucks for full turbo install including custom exhaust. legitimate shop too, friend of mines, does h22, b18, turbos all the time.

he put a cunderblock in the engine bay and called it a day after he yanked each engine.

im going to be doing everything myself well... because im too poor to trust people i dont know.

a d16 motor swap would cost me 180 for everything motor and swap. remember we are DIY guys here

$5500 for a b swap... if you can find someone dumb enough to pay that, more power to them.

nope thats what I charged for labor plus I usually got there old motors if i dropped a little bit off the cost. Most so cal shops charge 800 for installs but thats due to the rent out there

$3500 for an engine and a swap isint that bad. if you dont do it yourself expect to pay out the ass. go to a shop and get all your breakpads and rotors changed, $500 dollars. headgasket like instant $900 dollars of labor on an I-4. or getting a clutch installed and ---- like that. 90% of the money saved on hmt setups is the do it yourself factor

well i just want to say that i do all my own work the only time someone else even touched my car is when i got new tires and they fucked that up. i had originally called them to get one of the d series that they swaped out for cheap and they quoted me for a used y8 for 3200 so i asked how much to swap it in and they told me 3500. i never really planned on having it swapped by a shop. then i just decided to ask how much for an ls swap
