E 85 Update

So awhile back i posted a topic about how i switched from gasoline to E 85 and got a lot of replies saying that I was gonna ---- up my engine and all. Well its been over 3,000 miles so far and no ill effects. The only downsides to running it has been slow warm up and slightly bad idle but I'm running the hack right now and plan on switching to obd 1 and gettting it tuned so that will hopefully take care of it. Just thought i'd share my experience even though no one gives a ----.

what are the gains of e85? i have heard better gas mileage and more horsepower but never seen any real results.

Re: E 85 Update

well actually there is a decrease in gas mileage due to the fact that ethanol contains less energy than gasoline does however, ethanol can be run much leaner than gasoline without detonation allowing a good tuner to recover most of the mileage loss. And yes ethanol does burn much more slowly than gasoline does which makes more torque and overall power if the tune is correct. I did it because i'm sick and tired of giving all my money to those mother ------- camel jocky's over seas for their inflated oil prices when i could be giving the money to a local farmer instead for his ethanol production

Its fine in a Naturally aspirated vehicle as long as you tune for it. I guess you just have to ask yourself is it worth the work to get off of oil dependence. If not then keep fillin up with gas

Re: E 85 Update

People have barely been running e-85 for a season, and are goin crazy saying everyone's retarded, my fuel system's fine. You're not going to ---- anything up for a long time, and that's if you run e-85 in every tank. Just give it awhile

Re: E 85 Update

Yeah your stock system isn't set to run that much alcohol unless you have a E85 ready car from the factory.

Re: E 85 Update

yeah i know guys my system isn't set up from the factory to run alcohol i know i know, i'm more or less doing this as a test to find out for myself instead of believing everything that everyone else hears once and believes. to me if i'm a car manufacturer and i knew ethanol was going to be in gasoline i wouldn't put parts in my car that were semi ethanol safe i would put parts in the car that were totally safe for use with ethanol so that there would be no problems. this is the basis for my experiment. I'm simply posting results as i go that is all. thanks for the input though

105 octane and cheap as ----.
The question is why do so many of you guy's not run it?
And I dont want to hear any " OMG ethanol will eat away at your fuel system"... People have been running e85 on non-e85 vehicals since it has been availble, with out problems. Just need to tune for it.
