well, i'm 22 yrs. old and have a wife and kid. i also have a good ass job, but unfortunately, i don't get to spend any of my money because of the forementioned. well, i just bought a house, and have to make the down payment tomorrow :'( which means, i'm literally gonna have 0 dollars until my next pay check (next friday), after having this..........

yeah, i don't know wtf happened, i 'use' to be a playa ass motha fucker, then i met some good ass ----- that i actually had to chase instead of the other way around, i guess it was the challenge that made me fall for her. so next time your out drinking looking for some ho's, just pour a little out for me cause i'm prolly sitting at the house watching barney or some ---- :'(

I'm 24, son is 16 months, getting married this weekend!!! Planning on buying a house in September.
I don't miss the old days. I feel like I had my fair share, and now it's time to establish my life for the long haul. It's life, and this is how it happens. ;)

I'm almost 25, got the wife and a son deal as well. I don't know about you guys but I live my life a 1/4 mile at a time, cause thats how often I have to turn around and yell at my son! ;D Just playin, he's only 18 months, but you get the point. I love my married life, almost garunteed poo-nany and I couldn't even imagine my life now without my son. You young bucks will know what its like 1 day. Congrats Steve! Goin on a honeymoon?

don't be mad or sad cuz you have a wife and a kid and soon to be a house... a car isn't worth more than your life, or is it? it shouldn't be.. its just a hobby and i would take my time out of my cars to make a family and make a life for me. i hope to get married to my g/f right now, its been over 2 years now that we are together and i love her to death, thats more important than cars! if you didn't want a child or wife don't ---- at all

First of all, congratulations to Steve!
Kevin, maybe you just feel like you missed out on something because you got married so young, but I guaruntee you if you woke up tomorrow and it was all gone you would miss it. You know how when it's winter you wish that it was warmer, and once it gets hot in the summer, you wish it would cool off. It's like we're never satisfied.

Im 28 with a 2year 8 month old son.My wife and I have been together for a total of 8 years.We dated for 4 and have been maried for almost 4.I couldnt imagine my life without my son or her.Im the hapyest I have ever been.Like Steve said there comes a time when you melow out and you just want to settle down and have a familey.

Dont feel bad.Buying a house is the best thing you could ever do.I bought mine for $168k in 99 and now its worth little over $400k.The money is allwasy there you cant loose on a house.Keep your head up brother it will be OK ;D

Thanks guys. No honeymoon, we went on that mexico cruise a couple of months ago. I'm ok with that.
And the whole give up the car thing? ---- that. You have to have hobbies in life, no matter what situation your in. It just changes. Like, now I can't wait for my son to turn 8 so I can build him a Jr. Dragster. The hobbies are the same, they just turn into different projects. ;)

having a house and wife is your business, not a bad thing tho... although i love kids i prolly wouldnt have them until i was like 24+ just because of money issues, and also because the husband goes from getting all the attention to last as soon as the first kid is born. Mak you need to start savin girl, i have like 3k saved up and im 20 and unemployed...

To all those who say that they dont wnat a familey or you couldnt see your self with kids,just waite.Your not there yet but you will be some day.For now just enjoy life and have as much fun/sex as you can ;D.

dude, that's not what i was saying at all, i love my daughter more than anything, and even though i wish my wife and i had waited, i wouldn't change anything now. i wasn't saying i didn't want my daughter, i was just saying that having a family is expensive and being a 22 year old man, there are a lot of things i would like to spend my money on besides buying a house, although i know it's a good investment, i would like to take that 10,500 bucks and build a mean ass engine ;D but obviously i have my priorities half way straight, or i would have never saved it in the first place ;)

It just means you have to save up longer to work on your car... I'm in a similar situation. G/F and I are moving out, we have 10g saved up for 1st and last, and furniture etc.. have about 4g left over, she said I can take it for my car ;D.

It's just about your wife's.. uhm, ..leisure activities that would get to me...

yeah, that's one good thing, she has never supported my car habit or let me spend money on it (that's why my cca i.c. and stealth mani are hiding in my trunk), but she said once we get this house, she's gonna start paying bills with me (i paid every single bill before), and let me start spending money on my car, all she wanted was a house, and now she has it. as far as her "leisure activities", i didn't really tell the whole story behind that, and it's more than i care to get in to, but let's just say that we've had a rocky first two years, mostly all because of me, so i don't blame her for what she did, and the extent of it wasn't really bad anyways :-\

I only read the first couple of post, so before I read any more I'll post ;)
I'm 25 I have a wife, and 2 kids, first son will be 6 soon and the second will be 3 in August. I have my own house (well the bank owns most of it :P ) I still do things to my cars, it just takes a little more time to get them finished now. I love my kids and wife! The only thing I miss is just getting up and going or doing anything I want at the time. Finding babysitters suck ass!!! Especially when you are in a small country area like me.. But all in all life is pretty good, I just started my own business, it's slow right now but it is just that time of year.
All you have to remember is it's just money, it comes easy and goes easier!!!
Just read the last post by Crx88si, don't worry about the wife supporting the car hobby, I'm sure you aren't the only one with a wife that dosn't support them with it, hell my wife hates cars! I don't give a ---- and she can deal with it, if I am the one working for the money and my bills are all paid (which like you is basically everything) in my mind she has nothing to do with it, so I don't care what she says about it. But one thing I learned over the past few years is if you are going to have a turbo or race your car, you should buy another one and work on it, then if you break something you still have a ride to work. I learned this the hard way unfortunately ::)
I'm sure everything will work out fine for you, just keep your head up ;D

You should be happy. I'm 27 and married w/ a 3yr old son. We live comfortable and saving for a house. Just remember the value of a car depreciates in time, but the value of a home increase. Oh ya I still have my hobby and want my son to be have a hobby like this. I have a civic gen 6 (4dr) 5spd and happy to have a family. Having a family doesn't mean U can have this hobby.

yeah sorry about that first comment that was pretty harsh. it's actually really nice to see all these people on here take responsibility for their lives and support their families. i truly commend you for that- i'm 20 now and have no intentions of getting married just yet, but i definitely want kids, just going to try to wait until i'm at least 25 before having a kid.

hell, you've got a family to support and you've got 9 grand more than i do >:(

i guess all i can say is, good job so far and don't lose sight of why you like to modify your car, it's a stress releif tool in itself- anything that lets you wind down after a hard day is worth keeping around.

Changed my original post after reading the whole thing.

You just have to see it as an improvement in life rather than a setback on you project. A house purchase is like another project, but with benefits. First, a garage.. Second, the money you get when you do taxes. Third, when you refinance you get more money or put in your loan and save a whole bunch on your monthly bills. There are so many pluses to owning your own home rather than renting.

I am 25 been married for 5 years this May, have a 16 month old daughter who is my life, joy and everything..Would not change anything. I bought a new house 2 years ago for $255K. Refinanced last year and the house went up $30g's...cant wait for 2005 so I can refinance again.

yeah, i know, i guess i'm just whining because i hate to see all my money go, but like you said, you really make money off a house, the house i bought was a foreclosure and was appraised at 22k over what we paid for it, and they told us we can refinance after 12 mos, so in the long run (taxes, equity, etc.), it's definitely the smart thing to do, but i'm just gonna be broke for a few minutes, no biggies. hell, i can't wait to do yard work!!

Money is meant to be spent, just remember that! Besides buying a house is one of the best investments one can make.... ::)
