Don't buy gas

80.20 a barrel. Don't buy gas until next week, it will be in th $2 range. It's already $2.85 here at a few places, but the norm is $3.15. Keep holding out, nogs.

Dollar gas here we come!

Re: Don't buy gas

It's funny because yesterday I went to school in the morning and the gas was at 1.08$/L. When I came back at 15h the gas was at 1.19$/L.... ------- scammer!...

Hopefully I only take my car once a week :P

$1.19 a liter... ouch man. ---- that ----, oil has dropped like 7 bucks already today.

I had to spend $2 to fill up my moped the other day, this is outrageous :7

I would get one, but the up front cost of $1 to 1.5k for a moped/scooter has deterred me.

I bought mine new in 2001, it has paid for itself a few times since then.

You can get a good running one for around $400. It offsets the lack of a cat on my car :P

The crx has a 5gal fuel cell, and therefore has a range of maybe 100 or so miles. It does feel good to only put $12 in, and the cashier lady always looks at me funny.

Gas is floating around $3.50-3.75 a gallon in lovely ashEVILle, nc. Premium is around $4.30 when you can find it.

Ouch. Turbo D on 87 octane I filled up last week at like $3.40 and I get 25mpg city in cold weather, 35mpg highway. No cat on my junk either, I'm a looter and polluter.

we are in an economic crisis, i wouldnt say the worst we have ever seen.

Oil will only continue to go down as the economy continues to ---- the bed on a daily basis. Everything will start to go down as deflation sets in. Housing, cars, food, gas, commodities.

This isnt just happening here in the US is a global cause and effect. We as a country fucked up, now everyone else has to pay.

I just lost 6k this month from my 401K. Some of my co workers are losing that on a daily basis.. wait till the Dow resets itself back to zero. Game ------- OVER.

For us poor nogs and the ones that save their money under their bed it levels the playing field. For us, it's game ------- ON.

Damn... 6K this month? I don't even have 6k in my 401K. However, I reallocated most of my money into a money market account... but, I don't think it's very safe there either.

Re: Don't buy gas

I need to make a confession... my parents pay my phone bill and car insurance. The total is like $1k a year. Now, when they do that, they claim me on their taxes and get a big break, and I can't claim myself, so I'm shorted half of the tax money I've put in or more. So even without my parents' "help" (really I'm helping them out more than they're helping me out in this "crisis") I could manage as a full time student.

I spoke to Yuriney about this last night via AIM. He spent the summer working the floor at one of the exchanges for a financial institution. His $0.02 was that the whole scene was run by high-dollar assholes reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally ------- high on cocaine trying to make their first billion before they keel over from a heart attack at 38. It's a shady market.

TorganFM 10-10-2008 03:11 PM

Basically they go in with everyone else's money and a ton of coke and blitz the market as hard and fast as they can and get out? Sounds awesome. Where do I sign up?

gas futures are at 1.80 a gallon, take equals 2.40 a gallon at the pump in Ohio.

Not there yet..... 2.87 locally....

Speedway in Ohio

low = 2.62
high = 3.39

N1ghtM0nkey 10-10-2008 07:02 PM

Re: Don't buy gas

Gas was at 2.99 here yesterday, can't wait to see if it's changed today.

Couple weeks ago Jim Cramer predicted that the DOW would hit 7500 if this $700 billion plan didn't go through. It went through, and the dow almost went under 8000 today.

I'm hardly concerned about this because quite simply, it doesn't affect me. When ---- hits the fan bad enough and things get ridiculous like $100 for a gallon of milk, that's when you'll hear me start to complain.

Until then, these faggots can stfu because the only difference I've noticed out of this whole "crisis" thus far is lower gas prices - and that's something I would hardly call a crisis.

TorganFM 10-10-2008 07:19 PM

Re: Don't buy gas

The only thing at this point that can make the prices of stuff go up that drastically is the government. That is, if they start printing completely unbacked money and handing that ---- out. That kind of out of control inflation (generally we inflate 3% a year by design) makes saving basically pointless. IMO savings accounts are pointless. .5% means you actually lose money as your money is in a savings account. Everything inflates 3%, your money only inflates .5%. Where makes up the difference? The evil banks are skimming that 2.5% of of you (your 'break even' percentage) then they make an additional 20% or more on top of that after investment (loaning). Checking is less pointless, because you are losing your 3% and the banks are loaning that money out too, but at least with checking you have extra liquidity. Like you can buy stuff online, go to an atm, write checks, etc. .5% is not worth the loss of liquidity imo. ---- savings accounts. CD's are only a little better, you just barely keep up with natural inflation with a typical CD, at a total loss of liquidity.

gotta go to work I'll finish this up when I get off

Smith-02 10-10-2008 07:38 PM

Re: Don't buy gas

gas closed at less than $80 a barrel today.

CspecRun 10-10-2008 07:39 PM

Re: Don't buy gas

---- banks...I keep my money IN HAND. I agree with most every1 else, all this stock market crash doesn't much affect the middle class. All the politicians and money marketers are cryin' about the ----, because that's alllll of THEIR money that is invested in that bullshit. I hope they lose a ton. Gas here is steadily dropping too, but I'm still having a hard time finding premium. I've just been playin' it smart and staying off the road other than going to work. I need to get this clutch I have installed for my car to perform at its max, so I haven't been sweating it anyway. I think I've filled up once over the past 3 or 4 weeks.

Unless of course you get a bond with a failed bank. My grandma lost a $10,000 bond with Lehman Brothers... a bond is only as good as the name that's printed on it.
