Got this in the e-mail this morning.... What do you guys think?

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED STICK IT TO THEM DAY" AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMINISTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

I just learned about this the day before yesterday.Every one should join in.Lets show these mother fuckers what would happen if we all decided not to buy gas for just one day.

Here in Cali. were apying the highest in the nation.The average for 91 is $2.70.Thats ------- insane!

I was gonna say, it doesn't matter if everyone stopped buying gas for one day, people are just going to have to get more gas the day before, therefore they aren't doing ----. You need gas, it's basic supply and demand, you can't beat them if they have something you NEED.

yup ain't gonna do ish. Dob't buy today, you buy tomorrow. If this were to be really effective, people that participated would have to stop DRIVING their cars. All I know is I ain't givin' up my car to ride my ole bike again. I had enough drama with no brakes on it.

If you want something that MAY work, make it a week long boycott, or better yet a month. DON'T drive your car! You'd be consuming the gas and end up having to buy more. Take the bus or ride a bike. That is the only way I see it as even possibly working. But then again, there are those like myself that don't want to give up the luxury of a car. :-\

I busted out the redline last week. Been using it for trips
to the post office and to get my 32's of low life. 2.45-2.50 for 91 in vegas. I graduated h.s in 99 and gas was like 1.40 for premium. This is just insane, 3.00 bucks by end of summer.

Remember this from 2000? A convoy of 300 trucks drove into Washington DC and protested diesel taxes. It seems to have worked for them.

I remembered something about these before.

If you didn't buy gas for one day, or one week, what would you do? You would buy gas the day before or the week before, so you could have the gas. Which means that the oil companies would still be paid.

What should be done is for everyone to avoid a certain company. The oil companies sell the oil and there are something like three major suppliers.. or some small number. I am not counting the gas stations, because they each add their own special ingredients to the gasoline. So, everyone should avoid a supplier, like BP, if everyone did not buy BP gas, then they would lower their prices. All the other companies would have to lower their prices to compete for business. This could help this gasoline crisis.

If not... lets just nuke em' 8)

where i live its 2.20 for premium... i feel sorry for the cali peeps, 2.70!? and also for them poor bastards in their SUVs... i was waiting in line to pay for gas the other day and i kinda chuckled inside watching this guy pay almost $60 for a full tank of gas.

i'm down for not buying gas on the 19th even if it dosen't do ----.

i tend not to even worry about it. I just swipe my card and fill the tank. it could be $5 a gallon and I'd still pay it. I have to.

I don't see how not buying gas for one day is going to change anything. Yeah sure they're not going to make any money the 19th but on the 20th they're going to make it all back. Maybe if I read the first post I would understand better but I ain't reading all that ----

They were talkin about this ---- this morning on the radio. Its a real thing. People are going to do it. It has worked before, and its obvious that the word is getting out. I am not going to buy gas on the 19th. i'll be broke by then anyways...

I think a better solution would be to just not buy from ONE main gas company... guess what happens when you dont buy from that one gas company? They drop their prices... the instant the market floods to that company everyone else loses customers and they drop theirs....

well this is all theoretical... and probably wont happen... but shiet happens.

Well over here (the Netherlands) we pay $6.14 for a gallon (premium) :'( . On the dutch car forums there are threads like this once in a while, but there are still no public actions :-\. So my guess: nothing will happen may 19th.

I like the idea of boycotting a certain company. That's the only way anything is going to happen. Instead of not buying gas for that one day(which won't do a damn thing)we should all start boycotting one certain company. The only problem is I don't think they can advertise that on the radio/tv? Can they? I would think that might be illegal. ???

i got another save our wallets from gas price emails. It suggested every1 stops buying gas from the 2 or 3 largest gas suppliers. then they will be forced to lower their prices to attract buyers while the little guy will do the same to keep buyers. make them outbid each other.
