DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

I want to get started with dirtbiking, dont know much about them but Ive got a lot of land to play with. Im 180lbs so I looked on ebay for some 250cc 4 strokes, my friend also has a cottage and you travel far away from home, so reliability is pretty key.

I dont wanna spend a lot of money, the $1000 these cost with shipping is about my top budget.

There seems to be 2 different models. A lot of people seem to be bidding on them. I just wanna know why a Honda 250 costs 8K + and these cost 1K

For a beginner driver that wont be really racing and only trailing and a little bit of jumping, will these work? ANyone got one?

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

If I need brakes and such cant I just buy them from royal motorsports?

I was reading there feedback and it seems pretty tops, I really dunno

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

they actually arent to bad, most of them are knock of of honda's so most honda parts fit directly into them, just remeber when you get them, go over ever single bolt and tighten them.

my neighbor has one and we beat the ---- out of it every single day, and it runs perfect.

if ti were me I wouldn't touch that ---- with anything but a match.
But since your new and don't know if your gonna like it it may not be a bad idea.
keep in mind if you do like it, there is a reason they are that much less than the big 4.

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

Okay...it's talking about Chinese cars. I'm talking about knockoff cars. China has been making cars forever. ::) Just buy it and report back. I don't know why people ask cause you know they already have their heart set on this ---- before they even make a thread about it.

If you're looking for something that's not going to leave your ass in the middle of nothing, don't buy one of those bullshit bikes. :3

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

buy a real one

a used 125 2 stroke will kick its 250 r stock china ass and will last longer.

I know a lot of people with the little pocket bikes and once they brake there screwed because they cant get parts for them. If you are buying somthing to beat on(|thats what a dirt bike is for) then get a real one

already being done. there was a segment on one of the major news shows talking about how the Chinese made an EXACT copy of the Crapalier or something. They were saying that it was damn near ------- identical

kamilk69 05-24-2007 02:22 PM

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

my neighbor got this one exactly,

http://cgi.ebay.ca/125CC-OFF-ROAD-DI...QQcmdZViewItem

we flipped it the first day, and the parts from honda's fit on them.

but remeber break in the engine properly, change the oil frequently, and tighten every single bolt on the bike, beside that these bike are great, especially for a starter bike your not afraid to take it of jumps and ---- becuase it didnt cost you $8000. and there are lifan engines all over ebay for replacement, for a first bike i would definatly pick one of these up.

my neighbor paid $240 plus shipping. so for around $650 CND we have a 4 speed bike that can go up to 90 km/h for that price you cant go wrong.

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

Guy-Fast 05-24-2007 04:52 PM

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

Kamil has a 125, wouldnt a 250 be a lot different? Bigger?

Dr.Boost 05-24-2007 05:18 PM

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

Well if they're anything like those mini-bikes, you will get one ride out of it and just about everything on it will be broken or on it's way to being broken. My buddy thought he was going to make billions selling those things and ended up losing his ass because they were so shitty. He still has a few of them in his garage that were too fucked up to sell. :1

China is making knock off automobiles.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...2/ai_n16881841

Its a copy of the Chevy Colorado. I have seen pictures of the knock-off and the real thing side by side and it is crazy how similar they are.

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

If your worried about cost, buy a 125 or 250 that needs a top end rebuilt and rebuilt it....you can find those for around $500-$800 and it cost like $200 for a rebuild kit.

kamilk69 05-24-2007 05:53 PM

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

there isnt a whole lot that can break on these things the part i would be most worried about is the motor, but if you take care of it and throw on a oil cooler then your safe.

from my expiriance i can say that that bike was a fantastic buy, worth every penny, especially learing to ride on it.

these bikes are are pretty much the same thing. the 250 are a little bigger but they are pretty much the same bike but just bigger.

and when we flipped it the first day, i went to honda and got a clutch handle and front fender and they fit perfectly. so its nothing like the smiley welders,

W O T 05-24-2007 05:53 PM

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

You aint finding know brand name bike for $5-800, dont care how much motor work it needs

A fender and a clutch lever will fit any bike. ::) Try replacing valves, pistons, rings, clutches, bearings, ---- that bikes need on a regular basis.

I guess if you're not serious about riding and you just want to look like a douchebag riding around your yamkakiHondasuki "dirtbike"....go for it. :l I wouldn't be caught dead on one. :1

You can find older ones or ones that need work for that price. Obviously you're not going to be getting a *mint* 07 model, but....

Re: DIRTBIKERS! Why Are These So Cheap?

hey kevinn remember the little 50 at my uncles?

suzuki 50cc dirt bike. has hauled everyone around for the last 8 years and only thing we have ever done is change the sparkplug twice. this thing hauls me and my sone around on it all day long every weekend and everyone else and never had a problem.

our 250cc hondas have been riped hard since 1983 and we have rebuilt the engine in one of them once because of leaning it out in winter with summer gas and they are still going stong and can rip apart the new 8000 ---- that honda has out now

We aren't talking about a NEWER bike. Mid 90's CR250 can be bought for less than $1000 and outlast and outpower any of those horseshit chingchongmeow bikes and you won't look like a generic goober riding it. :1

Bad example, but still not a bad buy it now price. They can be found for cheaper.
