Did the IRS like you or not?

It's tax return time! Wow for the first time we're getting back something good. Know of any good places for vacation? The wife was looking at some cruises but wouldn't leave us too much left over after flying from WI to the where the ship is docked, passports(were looking at mexico, Jamaica, Haiti, etc... Just someplace nice before the baby comes in August/Sept. I'd like to go back down to Mexico but further down instead of just TJ.

As much as I would love to come back down to socal to meet the socal crew again the wife isn't too keen about LA or TJ again. Hmmm Cancun... I'll have to see what the wifey thinks about that. I wouldn't mind that though. So Frank...didn't get back enough to Fly to Oki and have much spending money.

Hawaii kicks ass, but there are too many tourists IMO. Kinda depends on what you and the wifey are into. The scenery definitely rocks down there. Maui was my personal favorite. There is lots of stuff to see on the big isloand, and Oahu just reminds me of a big city on an island.

Got to watch the sun rise one morning from the top of Haliakola (sp). Probably one of the most memorable experiences.

I got screwed big time, lost one of my W-2's in the process of moving and another one just never came. So that leaves me with one W-2 for a place I worked at for a month before the year was over.

Hawaii has sharks, the water is cold (by Caribbean standards) and its way too expensive to do anything there. It looks beautiful from what I have seen but I don't think I will ever spend my money To go there.

I have been to Cancun twice before and have spent no more than $1k while there. We rented a car and went to the ruins and all the eco-parks by ourselves. Its not like regular Mexico down there eather. They survive off of tourism only so there is a cop (not a crooked one at that) one every corner.....just don't wander off into the jungle :l

The IRS likes everyone. You pay them for nothing (taxes), and you get all excited when you're getting a refund. Meanwhile, they laugh at you because you just loaned them money all year at 0% interest. Ask them if they'll give you that same rate on a loan. :-\

In the end, you and I are all losers.

Hahaa. Pansy :P

Hawaii also has very active volcanoes. Last we were down there a lava flow shut down the southern highway. We got to take the north route to get back to the other side of the rock. I don't know if it has changed in the last 6 years, but the north route is interesting in a scary kinda way.

I haven't even done my taxes this year yet. I only speak the truth, not from emotions. Plus, I'm a business owner, so I get to spend all my money BEFORE it's taxed and then it isn't income. Your money is taxed first, then you get to spend it. ;)

Cancun is all grand and what not. But If you are looking for a great place in mexico for the best value, It has to be Puerto Vallarta. I have went the last three augusts and each time it was for 6 days 5 nights all inclusive. It only costs $750, for all inclusive (which includes flight, hotel, unlimited food, unlimited beverages, unlimited alcoholic beverages which is fan ------- tastic. Honestly Puerto Vallarta is great, they have a wide variety of great night clubs, and It also Lives strictly off tourism. Cancun and Cabo, Are a little more glamerous, but They also go for around 1k all inclusive at the minimum. You Could have one hell of a time in puerto vallarta for 2k. Don't let the hype of cancun and cabo fool you. Just do your research and have a chat with your travel agent and you'll see what I mean.

I see you mentioned haiti. id stay furthur away from that place than any place I know. I spent a little bit of time there when the bullshit was going on a few years ago with violence and ----...---- that place. Unless going to a country that smells like BO because there is no water, no electric and really has no sense of law enforcement is your kidna vacation....

If you wanna go on a vacation, load up the car and start driving. We drove from Indiana to Montana once, stopped at all of the little spots along the way, had a real good time...and got to see America. I plan on doign that with my kids someday.

State and Federal combined, I am getting back just shy of 6200. I've already gotten the State refund, just waiting on the Fed. I'm putting 2k away into saving, using a chunk of it to get the Talon's tranny build up, buying an alarm for the Talon, thinking about picking up a TIG, maybe a new recliner for the house, and pay off my TV that I bought.

---- the IRS and ---- taxes. I'm so ------- sick of paying taxes. Those mother fuckers take so much ------- money from me.....god damn.....I still owe those greedy mother fuckers from 2003. Put me on a high interest payment plan so I can give them more money out of my ass that hardly exists anyways. I make enough to get by basically and they ---- me over for 25% of MY ------- money and the money that I get that doesn't get taxed all to ---- gets taxed just as bad when I spend it.

The otherday I was eating at a bar/restaurant and this homeless dude rolls up on a bike. After the waitress took our order she went up to him and asked him if he was hungry and if he wanted anything to eat(free of course). He says "No, I'm not really that hungry, but could you get me some change?". The guy turns down the free food and pulls out CASH so he can play some pool. I think the bums have the right idea. ---- taxes and ---- the government. They're just too god damn stupid with way too much of OUR money and overpay every god damn thing they do. Ever notice how just about every goverment/city/state job is a good paying job with awesome benifits? Why are these assholes getting paid so much of MY money?? ----! :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7

I still haven't decided if I'm going to file this year. They can just follow me around and threaten to garnish my wages for the rest of my life. I'll just quit and work under the table until I die. :7

I worked for the government (Marines), made right about 20k a year if you averaged out my 5 years of salary, and worked my freaking ass off, no paid overtime, and the benefits weren't anything to write home about. Is that good money?

I wouldn't say "good" money.. it's liveable

20k is all right if you live by yourself and have a cheap honduh

Add in kids+house payment+car payment+whatever and it seems like 20k a year would suck ass to try to live on.

Re: Did the IRS like you or not?

Yup, I'd say it's "livable" at best, but definately not "good money" as Dr. Boost claimed government workers make.

I actually managed to make around 25k my last year in, but that's because I spent a bunch of time over in the Middle East. 25k, nice 5k jump in pay for living over in that ---- hole, working 7 days a week, and risking my life. God damn overpaid gov workers, we're just sucking up all the tax money!! Maybe if more people gave 0% interest loans I would have made 26k :o

I couldn't live on $20k/year. Bringing home $3300/month is barely paying the bills. :l

Rent: $850
Car payment: $465
Car payment: $250
Insurance: $160+$150=$310
Bike payment: $150
Dentist bills: $150
Electric: ~$50
Gas: ~$50
Water: $35
Cable/internet: $80
Cell phone: $115
Food&gas:~$400??
Credit cards:~$250??
total=$3155

And those are bills that have to be paid EVERY MONTH. :l :3

You are just one of how many HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people?? Just because you don't make ----, doesn't mean nobody else does. If you read you will notice I never said ALL government workers. :1 What do my tax dollars pay you to do anyways?

Yup. Its really pretty dam sad really. You didnt mention anything about the uniforms you had to keep up, the $7/week haircut, the food thats 'givin' to you....I made 14k my senior year of high school working 20hrs a week. I remeber my first year in, as a PFC/LCpl my first W2 was somethign like 16K.

Im about to hit my 6 year mark, and the cola here is what helps me out. I wish they would up the pay all together. Base pay + cola is comfortable living IMO.

This statement coming from a waitress makes me laugh, JD.

I've yet to have a full time job year round, no need to. Live at home still, havent taken a break from school, right after high school was done I dove headfirst into school. If I really wanted to I could wrap up at the end of summer and head to the four year instituation of my choice but I think I'll drag that out one more semester and chill out in the summer. :6

I won't name the exact amount but my mom was not making near 20k a year ~8 years ago when she was on her own again, this time with a 12 and 14 year old needing fed. She managed to work a regular 9-5 job m-f, keep us both full and even be able to pay for sports and other nice things like that, had a decent car and didn't need help from anyone. This is where I get the notion that its probably pretty easy to live on your own at 20k a year. Not so much when you've got two other mouths to feed.
