Demise of a D16Z5 (new pics+video)
So I've been having some problems for a while now. Had a horrable knocking noise, that probably meant a spun bearing.
So friday we were off to the shop to take out the D16, in favor of a B16 swap.
After some fiddling I managed to get the D16 started and running, and after about 15 minutes of idling, it sounded "ok'ish". So after a test run through the neighborhood I decided it ran pretty good considering, and wanted to drive her into the shop honerably, instead of a disgraceful tow.
So after about 5 kilometres I turn up the on ramp of the freeway. End of 3rd gear, taking it pretty easy I'm going 100'ish Km/h. Just before I'm about to go into 4th and merge, I feel a slight decrease in power, followed by a loud THUD and 2 locking front wheels and my dash lighting up like a christmas tree. My screen got sprayed with oil, smoke from under the hood, and a nice blue trail in my rear view mirror. Sounding like an impreza for about 10 seconds, it hiccuped once, and then silence.
I coasted to the side of the road, where I popped the hood, to find this:
What a ------- mess. It's hard to tell by the pictures, and on the black paint... but EVERYTHING was covered in oil.
The firewall, block, misc parts, hood... the oil was dripping from mt oil pan onto the ground. I looked up, and saw that I pulled a 150 metre oil trail on the freeway.
So....the civic behind me, wich BTW also got treated to some oil, ended up towing me into the shop anyway. Wich, is a bitch when you get passed all the time by cars going to the raced a few miles up ahead. God that was humiliating.
So...at the shop. All of a sudden I notice the mileage.
180011KM.
I got ------- TOWED across the 180K mark!
When we took a light, and looked at the mess under there, we found 2 holes and a nice bulge at the back of the block, and the timing had skipped a few teeth.
Well GOODBEYE, and ---- YOU d16z5!

UPDATE
We pulled the motor, and here are the pics.
Feast your eyes on this. This plug was so ------- wet, that oil dripped off. Awkwardly enough, the plug electrode itself was ivory white. LEAN!
2 of my friends pulling the engine out. When we drained it, no more then 3 litres of oil came out. I think it holds about 5.
Mandatory pic.
One of the holes... #2 cilinder. The other one is on #3, on the other side. Was too dark to take a pic. It was a tad bigger, with a nice bulge underneith it.
So....the end of my D-days. Here's a few spy pics for y'all.

welll......okay then.
A few spy pics.
I'm just a bit reluctant to post more until I get it to run.
I think I have a bad coil, or dizzy on that B16.
I have no spark, but I do have current on the dizzy plugs. It was WAAAY late last night, and we gave up. We were so tired we couldn't make heads or tails of the wiring, but we seem to have done it right.
