decided to not boost my toyota

but buy a 2wd yoda instead, throw a huge t3, or t3/4, or t4 on it, forged internals, a little cam action, 295/xx(probably 60 series)/15 tires, dana 44 rearend w/ posi/3.73 gears (i currently have this), run race gas, and at least 15psi. isnt much to lighten out of one of these other than bumpers, inner fenders/bed panels, and maybe a small fuel cell. 2wd toyotas weigh around 2800 i think, ill have to check on this, but getting to 2600 will be decently easy.

this the blueball striptease of the whole project. i used to have a frame up resto'd '88 2wd and last year i wasnt home and my dad started torching it for scrap, i come home and its cut in half. i was ------ pissed, and i couldn't find a trans for it, so it was sitting until i did.

If you want to scrap the idea of a yota, theres an S10 down the road here for sale for $900, im sure its probably got a v8 in it, flat black looks nice.

This was my plan a while back, but Jeff talked me out of it. He told me to "buy a real truck". :'( I've owned a couple 2wd Toyotas and I loved them both. :y

I know a guy who did a stroker 385 swap into his S10. Ran 12's all day long...

On the otherhand, it's nice seeing other Toyota owners wanting to boost..

then it wasnt built/setup properly. if it was built properly it could be one of the best cars ever. if it was just swapped in and drove away of course its gonna ride and drive like ----. its like putting a v8 in a honda(though its highly unlikely without proper mechanics and physics) and driving off. what do you think its gonna do? drives like ---- and rides like complete ass.

toyota just has more factory options for swapping engines into chassis' without any real modification to the rest of the truck (ie 1uz into a hilux = room to spare, just mounts and harness that will be changed) whereas dropping in a sbc or a sbf will present the need to modify the firewall.

and who said i was sticking with the 22r? this is the secret of it all :8

a 5.7 chevy will bolt into an s10 with aftermarket engine mounts. No modification is needed to a 85+ s10. They changed the firewall after 85 because they started putting in the 4.3. I've looked into doing this before I got my honda.

i really dont give a ---- about domestic engineering, you can find a toyota with 200k or 300k or even more fairly easily and even if the body falls off it still runs like low mileage. alloys < toyota, much like honda.

Haha, that's cute. They changed the firewall. I didn't see any difference in getting the top two bellhousing bolts out of both 84 and 88 S10 with the 2.8 V6, which exactly as stupid as the top two bellhousing bolts on any of the 4.3 V6 trucks.

Most of the V8 swaps into S10's need modifications to clear the steering column, and there is less clearance for 350 than 305.

They are either slow 15 second piles of ----, or some of the nastiest things ever built. I've never seen one that was in the middle, so to speak.

Re: decided to not boost my toyota

I'm pretty sure Downy makes a bolt-in kit to put a SBC into a Toyota with -0- modifications. The only problem you would have is with the tranny hitting the firewall. You can fix this with either a 3" body lift or just by using a manual tranny, which I would want anyways.

i know they do. but it takes away from the fun of inter-company engine swapping

All apologies. I wasn't inferring you needed to do a sbc swap into your Toyota. That would be pure blasphemy IMO. However if you did a 1uz swap or a jz swap, that would be a site to see. Either way, happy modding.

Toss a SR20DET into any Nissan hardbody pick with a KA in it. Last time I checked the KA's blocks for the 240sx's and the hardbody's were the same. I probably wrong though. I like Toyota pickups but damn I swear those things were mad of sugar cause as soon as water hits them they just crumble apart. I loved that one that Marty McFly got in the first Back to the Future. Now that was sexy. 8)

Jon I was thinking morealong the lines of this:

Attachment 30672

And if I find a pic of the S10 that looks about the same ill post it up...

but you and I both know that both the ranger and s10 are seriously fast. I just figured that a v8 powerplant in a cheap s10 might be good... or ranger...

Re: decided to not boost my toyota

I think the Yota just looks better then a s10 or ranger. I like rangers but not for some hotrodding action.
