you have to use the card to build credit. You have to have something to pay off. If you have no balance on the card for months that's not really helping. Your idea of buying chips n ---- and paying it off at the end of the month is a good idea. Heck you could buy a playstation game and pay it off over 3 months. But don't get too 'happy'.

On your credit report it shows your highest balance, your current balance, your credit limit, and if your account is in good standing. Maxing the card out and paying it off will have different effects on your credit. Some creditors look at it like you are able to pay off your debt resposibly, but some look at it like you live beyond your limits and you might be a risk. Using less than 50% of your available credit can be a good thing. Just don't go overboard. If you are able to control yourself it would be a good idea to pay for all of your daily expenses with your credit card and saving your money to pay the bill off at the end of the month. If you don't feel you can control yourself, do not do this.

yeah that's what I was trying to say about using it for daily expense and paying off.

And boost brings up a very good point on the percentage of balance. It is a good idea to keep under 50% of your allowed credit. Maxing out is not good, and paying all in full can also be bad. Keeping a balance is good, just don't be like me and have 9 out of 11 cards maxed out.

------' boost, that's the same exact thing going on with me. All my cards are maxed out so I signed up for another, notice how I have a couple free. I have another offer on my desk here in front of me, mad temptations. And I just signed up for another one like 2 weeks ago :(
