well my 4yo swallowed a magnet twice teh size of an M&M.

should i let it pass or go to the ER.

i think i should let her try to poo it out but if she cant poo go to the ER

was it just one magnet? if it was more than 1 they could get attracted to eachother while in her intestines and that would mean surgery. if it was just one, id say let her crap it out. i doubt the doctor would say anything different.

i figure if i take her to the Dr. now they will just wait to see if she drops a deuce then make a decision so instead of waiting in the ER with piles of sick and drunk people
my plan is to wave a peice of steel in the shitter and she if any terds start swimming


i am def not gonna give her x-lax but is there any food that speeds up the digestive sytem??

i'm a parent too, and there is no way i'd wait around though to see what happens. i don't know if an x-ray is safe with a magnet, but i'm sure it can't hurt to ask.

on a side note, if the 7 year old was present when the magnet was eaten, she'd be getting a tanned hide from dad for letting it happen.

My beagle came across a rain soaked rawhide bone and ate the ENTIRE thing (gotta look out for that stuff) She didnt eat for like 2 days and was in pain... It was pretty hardcore. The vet said to make sure she drinks water and it should pass. Sure enough it did and shes fine :8 A small magnet would have been cake!

Baby bin laden ate a calculator battery and I wasn't trippin, but the wife had to take him in to find out that he would ---- it out within a day, which he did, just like I said. She'll ---- it out, and if not, sodomize her with a magnetic screwdriver.

Fiber should speed up the process. Baked beans, prunes, apples, and cereal are all good choices.

Yup, I had to stop giving mine rawhides because she would swallow an entire 6-8" rawhide after chewing on it for a few minutes, not even soft. If they keep swallowing them it can block up or tear their intestines and cause some very expensive or fatal damage.

Go to Wal-Mart and pick up some Bene-Fiber. Only supposed to use 1 tbls 3 times a day. I tried all 3 at once..... 2 hours later I was shitting worse than the :8 restaurant, or just get some Colon Blow. Give her one dose and take the rest. Might as well get a detox in while you're at it.

Maybe with the fiber and all those lax, you could add a little bit of oil to help lubrification. (I'm not joking) Olive oil is better for health.

We used to give my beagle those raw hide chews. Big mistake. They eat the thing whole when it gets small enough. She had the same problem, pain and didn't eat for a few days. Those things are no good for dogs.

Make sure she doesn't eat any other magnets and she should be ok. If she somehow ingest another one they could connect at different points in her intestine and cause permanent, possibly lethal, damage.

Haha good thread. GL with your daughter. In 10 years you and her will talk about how you dug through her ---- together. She'll be fine. Kids are damn near indestructable except in cases of extreme injury.

yeah its an MRI i think that doesnt like the metal/magnets...
