It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood...a beautiful day for a turbo. ::)
Firstly, I'm giving a big shout and thank you to 89sipimpin for basically dropping his big knowledge and skill into my little sohc. I also must thank the incredible Justin for wiring my Safc II, Tony for helping mock up the pipes, Mel for snapping some great pics, and Juice! for coming through with the twinkies. Last but certainly not least I gotta thank Miracle Marty for all the random miracles he pulled off during the install and Marty's dad for the custom baller "Turtle Power" charge pipe, I love that thing! :y Ok, now, the moment you've been waiting for...Pictures! This is stock minus a heat sheild Attachment 32246 That AC has got to be brutally murdered Attachment 32247 The AC won't go without a fight Attachment 32248 Got It! Attachment 32249 Where's my bumper? Attachment 32250 There it is! Attachment 32251 More space to work in Attachment 32252 Gettin my turbo on Attachment 32253 Nonvtec sent me his buggy intercooler :P Attachment 32254 A "clean sweep" ::) Attachment 32255 Now the intercooler is clean enough to make love to...doggystyle! Attachment 32256 Trying to figure out how the ---- we're gonna run those pipes Attachment 32257 At around 2am we realized that the best way to go would be to run a straight pipe from the throttle to the dsm bov connector. Pep boys isn't open at 2am so we had to throw all the stock ---- back on so I could go home and come back the next day to finish. :'( ____________________ Day2 Tapping the oil pan Attachment 32258 Prepping for the JB weld ;D Attachment 32259 Preheating the oven for the oil pan Attachment 32260 Using tinfoil on a baking sheet because we all know, a clean oven is a happy oven. Attachment 32261 Attachment 32262 Remember kids...use those mother ------' oven mits! Attachment 32263 Let bake until golden brown Attachment 32264 Whats this? Attachment 32265 Oh, wiring the 10watt10ohm resistors Attachment 32266 Wiring the SafcII inside the car Attachment 32267 The "Miracle Marty" welds Attachment 32268 Brandon is under the car welding, notice the intense light coming out of the engine bay Attachment 32269 Apparantly Justing is usually lazy, but not tonight as he runs the boost gauge hose Attachment 32270 Forget mugen, forget spoon, and forget garrett....we got TWINKIE POWER BABY!!! Attachment 32271 Twinkie baller shot! Attachment 32272 There you have it. Attachment 32273 The custom designed "Turtle Power" logo, complements of Marty's dad Attachment 32274 Attachment 32275 Attachment 32276 It didn't run right away because the o2 sensors weren't plugged in and the car was throwing a CEL, so it was limp mode until the next day when we plugged them in. She's running at 3psi right now because I still need help tuning the Safc to 8psi, the problem is when I hit the gas running 8psi at around 4k rpms the needle jumps to 6k then will go up to 8k if I keep on the gas so we had to unplug the boost controller to get it to run normal, anyone in the chicago area willing to help me tune my safc? or if you might have a solution please post it up! |

Re: Dan (TurtlePowerCivic) gets a turbo kit...*lots o' pics not56k safe*
Yep, it's the whole body kit, you can see the side skirt in the bigger pic with the three cars. Its a Kaminari kit, ---- was expensive when I got it four years ago.
Turtle Power means alotta things. First Turtle is my nickname. Second "Turtle Power" is kind of a catch phrase derived from the ninja turtles cartoon. Third Turtle Power is the way I describe the power my car puts out, sinisterCRX called that one, Auto 4 door what!?!? and Fourth, when I'm making love to a fine fine pretty lady I do it like a turtle, slow and steady. ;) :y |

Nice setup btw, you should make that logo into a smallish vinyl for your rear side window. |

Re: Dan (TurtlePowerCivic) gets a turbo kit...*lots o' pics not56k safe*
You say that you are at 8spi then you hit the gas, this sounds like you are building 8 psi at 4K rpm at partial throttle...
Then your tach goes to 6K then 8K... Could you please be a little more detailed |
Re: Dan (TurtlePowerCivic) gets a turbo kit...*lots o' pics not56k safe*
does the car feel different when it does that? maybe theres a bad wiring connection somewhere.
|
Re: Dan (TurtlePowerCivic) gets a turbo kit...*lots o' pics not56k safe*
holy ----. when you wanted to ------ rig something you just went ahead and called the ------s to do it. hahaha. :6
Questions: what the hell was the reason for the oven and JB weld? didnt quite catch that one? To help it dry faster? why a safc? you should have gotten a ecu from xenocron or someone... -3psi, you arent really gaining anything... |
Re: Dan (TurtlePowerCivic) gets a turbo kit...*lots o' pics not56k safe*
Thats a sexy kit, hope you enjoy it. I'm loving the custom external gate cover on the Drag manifold :D

haha you bought nonvtecs turbo kit. that drag manifold was on my built hatch. shits old school
unfortuantly your car is now worth less. you can no longer say that your car is "------ free" cause those two coons were all touchin it and ---- :S |

The OBD1 transmissions will not swap into that car. 92-95 and 95-99 are all interchangeable amongst themselves, but an obd1 auto tranny will not fit in a 95-99 civic, whereas for a manual 92-99 are all interchangeable.... so I'm really confused as to your statements... also Paul99ex had an EX auto civic which he turbo'd at one point, never got it running well but it was obd2 and auto... |

This thread pretty much explains why it isnt as easy to convert from obd2 to obd1 on an auto car and why we went the the safc. Guess people said that the sensors on the obd2 trans wouldnt work with the obd1 ecu, therefore you'd also have to swap out the trans if u wanted to convert to obd1. So if we'd be doing a trans swap, might as well be and auto to manual and he's not ready to do that one just yet. I dont konw the exact details but Turtle can chime in on that, he did the research. My only job is to do the installs so massa dont beat me no mo. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...6755#msg796755 |
Re: Dan (TurtlePowerCivic) gets a turbo kit...*lots o' pics not56k safe*
Quoting y7turbo:
if you look at the boomslang website you will also need to swap the obd1 auto trans as well! its not worth it. Anywho, its obviously another costly project which might happen next summer.

lol wasnt this setup sold?
|
Re: Dan (TurtlePowerCivic) gets a turbo kit...*lots o' pics not56k safe*
And while this is up here, what the hell is a DPFI setup doing on a 96+ Civic? Let alone a 92+?
|
Re: Dan (TurtlePowerCivic) gets a turbo kit...*lots o' pics not56k safe*
Wheres it say its dual point? Its just a weird intake manifold if thats what you're referring to. All those engines had them.
|
Re: Dan (TurtlePowerCivic) gets a turbo kit...*lots o' pics not56k safe*
Hmm really. Never saw those before. They look like the DPFI intake on my old STD. Is it basically just a TB connected to runners then? No plenum?

Re: Dan (TurtlePowerCivic) gets a turbo kit...*lots o' pics not56k safe*
