dam, i cant wait to go to japan...check these cars out...
my wife and I will be in japan june 1st. (for 3 years) I cant wait. I saw this and thought i would share the wealth i will be pampered with....

The reason why those cars are so cheap is that there is way more fees for owning a older vehicle over there, not to mention gas prices are crazy.

the gas prices there are the same as cali's right now. and those cars are bad ass. what spencer is talking about is JCI. what do you know about JCI spencer, before you go look it up.... ;) just because its such a bad ass car doesnt really rate it to be so expensive. you have to remeber, those cars over there are just like our cars here. you have your cars that are cheap, and those prices are about the same for what you would pay over here. ;) |

JDM engines don't have #'s at the end of their codes. A B18C is what you're looking for.

GTS is so cheap because its RWD not 4wd i think, and all the people in japan are hella into the GTR 4wd versions. but that Rx7 looked pretty good

i will let everyone know about what engines are over there.
just so everyone knows, on this parts selling thing....HMT will get first dibs. what i think im gonna do is, gather a ---- load of parts, and make one thread "this is what I have for sale" then its first come first serve, just like any other thread in the for sale section. requests will be taken, but on a secondary basis. and spencer, so what exactly is JCI, i dont quite understand. ??? -i mean, youve been there, so you should know. right? |

:o when i was over in oki. i was driving a hummer from my base to another base in a convoy, and this ------- sick ass fairlady came drifting around a blind turn like a pro, that mother fucker scared the ---- out of me man. hey frank a lot of the roads are pretty good surface but unless your on the oki. express way its kinda hard to really open your car up. its really hilly with real nasty turns, there is some sick tunnels that run through mountains kinda like gran turismo you'll have fun. ;D

the used cars are cheap because you need to invest a lot to get it "road worthy". every car in japan has to go through a very meticulous inspection every 2 years. i am lead to believe that the car must be in stock trim for inspection. if the car didn't come from the factory with it, it can't pass the inspection. this even includes window tint! when i was there i was told that the people driving these car will return them back to stock trim every 2 years for the inspection. :P i saw a ton of used cars for sale at really good prices.
i've also had stuff shipped from japan. i guess they are pretty sticky on some things, but my parts arrived in a timely manner. |

yes, you are right, but they dont have to be in stock form. they must be "clean and operational" not leaking any fluids, or any signs of leakage. nothing mechanical can be rusted or any signs of rust. any alum. parts must not have any corossion on it, brakes and all fluids must be 100% new. some lines must be brand new, lots of ----. i can get you some links if needed. (ive been studing this ---- for the last few months now...) and hebelect, there is a base line skyline, non-turbo, and i think its automatic also. your buddy is a fool for getting a non-turbo skyline. why ??? |

The cool thing about japan is there are 24 hour car parts stores as big as walmarts. You walk in, and they have a greddy section over here, a HKS section of there, once you get over there you'll realize how different a car culture japan really has. Alot of old buisnessmen driving skylines with big rims. Everything is turbo, you'll hear BOVS everywhere you go. and frank, its not so much the process of getting your car inspected over there, it's the cost.

The inspections fees only start getting costly on older vehicles. You need to really love your car over there to own something more then a few years old, thats mainly why you only see modded and well taken car of cars. Nobody drives junkers over there.

LOL the rims on that Civic make it look like it's running spare tires all around. The yellow strip would be the label that says you can't go over 45mph and no longer than 50 miles on the tire.
