my friends wrx has the intercooler right under the big vent in the hood, but when you close the hood it seals around the rim of the intercooler and only lets ---- throught the intercooler but the water just falls through it. the water wont hurt anything your car was made to be outside and puddles will probably get more water in your engine bay anyways. go for it..... :

Maybe you shouldve put the NSFW before it.... drrrr :1

Okay heres what you do

cut a big hole above the filter, in the shape of a square

take the metal cut it up and somehow weld it back together so its a scoop

or hell, cut a hole in the hood and build yourself a little wooden box and JB weld it to the hood

the vent actually have plates that go on the bottom of the hole. It will have rain gutters and some sort of drain that has a slope to it. The actual hole that vents to the outside will most likely be vertical and the rain can't just drop in. It would have to be blowing the other way to get into your engine bat. Now when you cut the holes, depending on how big you cut them, your hood will be floppy. How you prevent this(if you want to) it to make bracing all around the hole like the factory does. I would make a "Hat Channel" in a metal brake and just weld it to the other brace and put some seam sealer to bond it to the hood. Don't weld it to the hood, it would warp it. In your case who gives a ----.

As far as the hood mounted intercooler I wouldn't do it. First off you have no room and second it will heatsoak on top of the engine. If you can do the above you could build this. Just takes some time to plan it out.
