Custom Fabrication Project :::UPDATED!!! MORE PICS:::

I have been boosted for about 5 weeks now without a filter so I decided it was time to at least get a screen. I have a gay ass compressor inlet so I had to order a flange from road race engineering to even put a screen on there. I could have just made a flange from a piece of metal, but I am lazy. I went to home depot and found the mesh sceen I wanted, but they only had it in football length rolls and I only needed a little piece. I was making frozen orange juice the other day and thought the food strainer I was using would be perfect. Well I was really bored so I took a few pictures of the project.

So in to the kitchen I go.

The cupboard where the food strainers are.

http://users.adelphia.net/~pshickey/images/2.JPG

These plastic food strainers wouldn't work very well.

http://users.adelphia.net/~pshickey/images/3.JPG

These are the strainers I want.

http://users.adelphia.net/~pshickey/images/4.JPG

Now it's out to the garage and the first thing you have to do it turn the radio on. I prefer country music while I am working in the garage.

Picture of my tool boxes and drag radials.

http://users.adelphia.net/~pshickey/images/5.JPG

This thing just sucked ass and wouldn't cut a damn thing.

http://users.adelphia.net/~pshickey/images/6.JPG

This tool worked out pretty well.

http://users.adelphia.net/~pshickey/images/7.JPG

Here is the finished result.

http://users.adelphia.net/~pshickey/images/9.JPG

If your trying this at home make sure you throw away the remaining parts of the strainer so your mom doesn't find it. If she asks where the strainer is just say I don't know and quickly change the subject.

Here are a few extra pictures I took of my car and truck.

Front mount intercooler shot.

That wouldn't be a good combo for me. Country music pisses me off. I'd have broken wrists and ----.

I'm telling your mommy. :P

You're selling the mud-bogger?

I haven't been trying too hard to sell the truck. I might end up keeping it anyways. I actually already told my mom and she was cool with it. I am just warning you guys. ;D

Re:Custom Fabrication Project :::PICS:::

Thanks guys. I need to rip my valve cover off and clean that up a bit and maybe spray down the engine with some simple green still. I am happy with my charge pipes though and how they came out. It's the johnnyracecar 5 inch tall intercoler by the way. Next time I will take pictures without the license plate since it will look better.

Yeah Longview is nothing, but a bunch of rednecks and hillbillys (big logging and paper mill town). I'm not sure if I am selling the truck anymore. I have had some good times out in the woods camping, fishing, etc... in that truck (78 Ford, 460, 12 inch lift, 39.5 swampers). I actually have to jump to get into the thing too lol. I listen to all types of music, but if I had to pick just one it would defintely be country. Oh and yes I only cut the front of my hair. Maybe a little on the sides and back, but not much. ;D

Make sure you bury the remains of that strainer, so your mom doesn't see it if she goes to throw something away.

Re:Custom Fabrication Project :::PICS:::

Yeah I didn't get around to it today. I did finally set my timing back to stock and adjusted my ignition maps accordingly though. I am going to get a compression tester for shits and giggles so I can test my car. I got a water pump and timing belt the other day too so I might might get started on that tonight... keyword being MIGHT. ;) I will at least open the hood and look at it lol.

Re:Custom Fabrication Project :::PICS:::

I went to sears today and got a $25 compression tester... 195 in all 4 cylinders. :)

My car is in the garage now (warmer) and the hood is open. I will defintely get that screen on later. I doubt I will get my water pump and timing belt done tonight, but I will at least start unbolting things. I am guessing there will just be a lot of lawn chair sitting and beer drinking. ;D

I hate doing the water pump. The first one I did on my old rex wasn't that bad, but the one I did on the civic kicked my ass. I could not get the timing belt cover off for the life of me. I do not envy you at this point (although I do envy your hp numbers)

Oh, btw, can you still send me that basemap to leecravens101@hotmail.com

Go to the uberdata site. There is a sticky at the top of the "Roms, tunes, scripts, executables" section called "ROM database" and you can get it there.

Re:Custom Fabrication Project :::PICS:::

Well I finally got around to installing that screen and it only took about 3 days. I installed a new timing belt and water pump also and took a few pictures. It's funny the timing belt and water pump took less time to install than the screen did lol.

The screen installed (thanks for the food strainer mom ;D).

Here is where I spent most of my time in the garage. I would have to say I only worked about 10% of the total time I was in the garage. Most of the time was spent drinking beer.

http://users.adelphia.net/~pshickey/images/c1.JPG

Here is my manifold having having a corona.

http://users.adelphia.net/~pshickey/images/c2.JPG

I had to remove my downpipe so I could wedge a screw driver into my flywheel to remove the crank pullet bolt. My downpipe decided to have a beer also.

http://users.adelphia.net/~pshickey/images/c3.JPG

Here's my crank pulley bolt remover chillin with another corona.

http://users.adelphia.net/~pshickey/images/c4.JPG

Yes my blow off valve even likes to drink beer.

Wow, I'd wait three days if I knew my screen was gonna come out that good. Super nice work.
I did a little "project" of my own last night (country music in the garage of course ;)) but I can't post pics till I find someone with a camera. I think you guys are going to be proud though. (not a thread jack)
Nice ----.
