Default CRX | Insurance | Money | Recent Claims?

okay I am looking at getting full coverage for the CRX and observing quotes. after seeing the quotes I decided to look up the kbb value to see if it justifies the insurance payments. Well a 90 crx has a kbb of 2k at best... jesus. So my question is are there any of you guys that have gotten your CRX/EF hatch totaled or stolen and you collected a check from the insurance company? If so how much did you get?

I'd hate to drop 150 a month on insurance if it's not really gonna benefit me.

many insurance companies will insure parts etc invested in the vehicle but you have to file wiht them with recipts etc

esentially so you wont get back 1200 bucks after your car gets jacked even though you have 10k into it

exactly what I'm afraid of. I don't want 1200 for a 10k car after I pay 1500 a year for insurance.

I'm looking at progressive, since I know for a fact that they insure parts with a receipt. problem is, how much is an extra 5k+ worth of parts gonna change my rate?

i hate buying insurance

yes, but at the same time, if you put $10k into a car and wreck it, your probably gonna be able to pull most of those parts off, and if you cant...your prolly dead or wont be able to drive again anyways.
if it becomes stolen, your fucked. :P
Dont go off of kbb. use NADA.

I myself dont think its really worth it.

No 2 of my friends cars were stolen in vegas. They had insurance on the parts on the car and were cut a check very fair imo.

Your more likely to get a car stolen on the west coast than an accident

progressive is a good company, never had any issues and they arent stingy with cutting checks.

when i was rear ended in my 91 hatch and got my bumper scratched (the black plastic ones) the other driver had progressive and they cut me a $300 check w/ out me bitching, thats when i dumped Gayco and switched

Goddamn that's alot. I got full coverage on a 00 firebird, 00 civic, and liability on a 89crx and it's $96 a month. Fuckmyzc just went through this ---- ask him. KBB is kinda like blue *****, it'll get your hopes up, but your not getting ----. Most insurance companies are gonna go by tax value, which in NC is less than $1000.
