iam in florida so iam going to the microsoft security conference since thats our current problem and maybe i can find a security consultant there to outsource some of our ---- to or atleast help us get caught up. we got three of us ------- with this ---- and none of us have any certification just learn and go. i think iam going to get the book "windows server 2000 for dummies" and see if i can learn some?

Re:Computers Suck!

any one ever use "Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer" i realize every single computer on our network is considered severly unsecure and this little program brought to u by Microsucks tells you how many holes that they leave open and conviently tell u how to correct all the ----.

Re:Computers Suck!

why the ---- would you use microsoft ---- to test microsoft security holes? most likely its going to come back and report "you are using the most secure O/S in the universe and have nothing to worry about"

go to google. look up "nessus". its a security analyzer that runs on linux and will surprise you about how insecure windows can be if you dont lock it down. actually, just download knoppix STD(security tools distro). it has all the ---- you need, its free, and will most likely rape the ---- out of "microsoft baseline security analyzer."

Re:Computers Suck!

The MS Security analyzer is actually pretty decent for what it is. I scripted it to run on all of my workstations and it gives me a decent picture of where any possible issues might arise. Nessus looks cool, after my new servers are in place I might use one of the old servers to throw a linux/bsd box up and run it as well.

Re:Computers Suck!

Ill use Microsucks crap just to get a start but that nessus looks like its basically the same idea but better since microsucks just reciently decided they cared about security.
Oh yeah iam going to install the free version of Suse Linux this week anyone use there brand of Linux before anything good or bad?
