By the time thermal shutdown takes place, the processor can be fried.
Jump the fan to power and see if it will spin, will you, or plug in a known good fan and see if it will spin? |

Re: computer problem: is my CPU toast?
Did you build the computer or did you buy it that way. If you built it then you might have a readout on the motherboard of what the problem is, mine has a display that shows codes then u just look them up in the book that it came with to see whats going on.

Fuel injected computers. Does anyone else see the paradox?

Re: computer problem: is my CPU toast?
Hey quit talking ---- about the 2400+. I'm still rockin one (overclocked on the old asus a7v8x-x of course) and it's a fine proc...if you're not a gamer.
Sounds like it's fried though. Procs are cheap, try to find another socket a proc to use in the mobo. If it's good just get a cheap 3200+ and you'll be fine. |
Re: computer problem: is my CPU toast?
I've always noticed that AMD processors pop before intels. Almost ever time I see an AMD over heat for whatever reason, it ends up fucked. I've over heated my Intel P4 like 6 times and it just boots right the ---- up every time.
Use this as an exuse to upgrade, get you one of those fancy Duo cores! |
Re: computer problem: is my CPU toast?
My desktop has an old 2800+ and it's still great today and fast.
