Meh, I don't know, I never used Gigabyte before this one, but I love it.

I can change so many different voltages, most of which I don't know what the hell they are. Vcore increments is a nice 0.0125v. I can put ram with different speeds in and still use it. I can't think of a single setting that's not changeable. Backup BIOS, blah blah too much crap. And none of the Asus boards had near the features for the price.

I have my Q6600 oc'ed from 2.4ghz to 3.6ghz with it, so it seems to handle overclocking well :6

Asus boards are good, though. I'm just going to stick with Gigabyte for a while until they give me a reason not to.

And I had to play with some of the other options, forgot which ones.

Really doesn't matter because every processor will act different. Could only get my friend's to 3.2ghz.

Attachment 10234

If they could all be pushed to higher numbers, they would do it from the factory. I think 3.2ghz is a safe bet on all systems though.

For 3.2ghz I'd go:
8 x 400mhz
1.45v

Then I'd do Prime95 stress test overnight. If it's still running in the morning, then drop the voltage an increment or two and do it again, until it crashes, then bump it back up.

Well screwed around with it it it had a bad power supply, bad 1gb stick of ram, bad mobo battery, and it comes with vista which was acting screwy. It wouldn't recognize a mouse or keyboard. So slapped my hdd in it with other parts from my computer and it runs good. Downloading Win 7 to try to load on it so it won't have gay ass vista. Hopefully he won't want it. Decent upgrade for me. I put my video card in it because the one in it only has a dvi and svideo output. My current setup:

1gb ram, 250gb hdd

Hard to believe that was only what...2-3 years ago? Don't even sell the parts anymore.

Ram and harddrives are cheap. Upgrade.

get an athlon x2 since you have the socket.

you can swap am2 and am2+ back and forth but you cannot utilize the larger cache or some ---- that am2+ mobos support
