Default Computer/Laptop Hardare Help

I have a Dell Inspiron 1150 Laptop for about 2.5 Years now. 2 days ago The Screen went dim to the point were I can hardly veiw it. I have to have PLENTY of light in the room to see it.

The strange thing is, if I turn on the computer the screen shows the start-up for about 1-2sec and then dims out, and if I close it it will do the same thing.

At first I thought it was the switch that senses the lid is down, but why then does it work for 2sec then off?

I haven't opened it up yet, I'm looking into that tonight.

actually it could be a setting... because it should be an led back light and when an led goes out it goes out...
you could always go to ebay and find another model like yours that is stripped so its basicly a shell and an lcd screen and swap out your mother board and hard drive... that way you get a new keyboard(one that doesnt have dried jizz all over it)

wait i think i just found what you need... it was on another forum..

wow it actually looks like they use a type of florecent light... huh... i always thought it was led's... you learn something new everyday... like how the people on this site love to use the N-Bomb

here is a list of lights they have for sell too...

actually older dell laptops use a flaurecent bulb not an led. the light is most likey not the problem though. mine did the same thing and it was the cable that went through the lid into the screen. it is most likely the video inverter board or the cable for the screen. i have repaired many older dells with similar issues...

I had the same issue with my compaq. I took it apart and reseated the connectors for the screen and reassembled it. If I open and close it a lot I will have to reseat them again. It works like a champ now.

Be very careful taking it apart. Laptop parts are very fragile and there will be a million tiny screws that u have to keep around

And to this. The reason I think It may be loose is because 2 weeks ago I had thewhole damn thing apart for the second time re-soldering the Power Cord input beauce it keeps snapping off the circut board. Time for a new Laptop but funds are too low!
