Heres the manual for trouble shooting, (this is obd0) but its pretty much still the same. 90% of the time when I have a code 4/8/9 I usually end up replacing the distributor. I always suggest clearing the code first, and making sure all the pins for the distributor connector are nice and tight.
Will this cause idle problems? ehh, I dont think so. I'd fix the check engine light first then start trouble shooting your idle problem. Its possible the fit valve needs to be adjusted or your having a iacv going out.
