Re: cig lighter stopped working? not the fuse??
the light and the lighter are probably on the same circuit
That happened to a buddy of mine a while ago, turned out the ashtray was grounding from a hackjob stereo install
Also seen it happen because of a rusty holder for the lighter, if thats the case swap it out and you should be good to go.

stop smoking and then figure out what the "popping" noise was.
sounds like a short.

Re: cig lighter stopped working? not the fuse??
ya, it definatly shorted, cause it was working then i moved the ---- around, cause it was flickering on and off and there was a arch/pop noise and it stopped working. btw its not mounted in there because i lost the piece that holds it in, so i would just wedge it into the hole, so it wouldnt move. its arched and blown a fuse before, but this time its not the fuse.

Re: cig lighter stopped working? not the fuse??
well i got that fixed, it was a fuse that i thought was good, one of those ones that should light up when blown, but it didnt
now i have another problem, i took out the radio to check the ground and power supply, and after i figured out what the prob was i went to put it back in(checked to make sure it worked beforehand), and when i got it back in id didn't work.
so i pulled it back out to find the constant 12v supply was exposed, so i checked the fuse, and it was good, and it still wouldnt work. it showed about 2v on the multimeter, it goes up when i turn the key in the on position, but not to 12v.
another weird thing is apparently when i installed the stereo about 7 years ago i ran a wire from the fuseboard(fuse #3) to the constant 12v connection, so i had 3 wires joining, the power from the car harness, the wire from the stereo harness, and this one random wire.
i have no clue as to why i did that. and it worked without it after i fixed the cig lighter, and the cig lighter still works with the radio not working.
anyone have any idea?

Re: cig lighter stopped working? not the fuse?? *UPDATE*
ya, it needs a 12v constant supply a 12v at key-on position and a ground.
i used the adaptor harness from the oem stereo harness, but i dont know why i added that 1 wire from the fuse box in there along with the other wires that were supposed to be there.
when the key is on i get 12v from the red(acc) wire, like it should, but still not the full 12v from the constant power supply
