Whoa... I didn't realize the ratios were that ------- different from my DX. Anyone know the ratios of the RT4wd manual? I'm working on a little project.

Plenty, but that's not the issue. Watch the video a couple times.

hondas are smooth until you let off the gas
When you coast down from 130+ its a fucken cadillac on a semi wavy road

Some of them are. Some of them get awfully smooth and quiet in the 120-130 mph range, it's almost like the tires aren't touching the ground. That's because they almost aren't.

You remember the old thread on Hybrid about the EK hatch that killed the driver going 168? Some professional jap raceteam going for a highspeed assault type thing. Silver car, I remember some magazine shots of it before the accident.

my eg sedan felt like it wanted to jump once i got past 130....didnt push it much past 140ish since it felt like it just wanted to leap of the ground and amplified any lil bump/imperfection on the road.

What are you thinking?

How slow all the traffic around the car is moving, at all times? Or how the total trip time and distance seem to be off?

Or maybe how they talked about actually taking a turn at that speed.... :l

Re: Chinese made turbo kit

My VX with Skunk 900lb rear springs and 175/70/13 Firestones was actually pretty good at 145-150 where it hit the limiter in 5th [GSR hydro] and i would have gone for more it was pulling fairly hard still.I did this going up a big hill though so stopping would be fairly easy.So really i dont dought they did 170.

salesmonkey 11-13-2007 07:47 AM

Re: Chinese made turbo kit

i believe it, i hit 140 a few times when i was pushing 14 pounds in my civic with the b16 and it had more. 130 was pretty much max on just the stock b16. and thats in a 95 ex coupe. if i trusted my engine with that load i would definitly max out the car haha. and as far as the car not handling that well at those speeds, road condition plays a huge part in that.

Re: Chinese made turbo kit

i hit like 125 or so, but i would'nt look at the speedo that often cuz my car felt like it was going to fly off the road, what freeway in cali is smooth enough to do 175 on?

imburne 11-13-2007 12:34 PM

Re: Chinese made turbo kit

Wheres all this denial coming from? I did 175 in a school zone once. The only reason he let me go is because I had a crack in the manifold, plus he said I had too much cdm in my engine bay, hell yeah!

They cut immediately to the same traffic shot after both runs. Notice 18 wheeler in far right lane and identical traffic patterns around it, which makes no sense to do when editing the video. It was hard to gauge anything about vehicle velocity when they spotlight the GPS and then immediately cut footage - I know at that speed I'd be pointing the camera around because 150+ is pretty dramatic.

I just don't trust a 75mm bore engine for high load long duration operation. It's probably entirely do-able with c16 or any other good racegas, and I'm just being a hater, but it's pulls like that which unseat headgaskets on more robust B-series.

Yeah, but as soon as you let off the gas with those 900 lb springs the ride goes from smooth as glass to OMFG I'M GOING TO DIE. It's not getting there that's the problem.

i will say in my crx at 130 i thought for sure i was gonna die, but in my 97 coupe at 140+ its smooth as butter. heavier cars are always more stable at speed.

Re: Chinese made turbo kit

went about 125-130 in old integra, was smooth until i let off then it was death ride back and forth between lanes

don't know how fast in mustang, speedo stopped a 85... lol... smooth going up and down,
might have been 150 was nearing redline in OD

went about 135 in camaro smooth as glass all the time, could've climbed out the top and skated on spoiler

about 100 in my old chevelle and it felt like i was going to crash, needed new front suspension :P

1 Attachment(s)
took my 300zx to 160 before. Just flooring it in 5th. Doing 160 is amazing, makes all traffic seem stopped. Attachment 22786 I was braking when the picture was taken. When i brake that light comes on in the upper left hand corner of the dash.
