Chantix users?
 

Anybody here tried Chantix yet? I just started my first dose of it today. I have been trying to quit smoking for the past six months now, and it aint working. I tried cutting back, but a stressfull day at work or a bored day at home and im back to normal. I smoke about a pack a day give or take two to three. I hope this ---- works, my insurance wouldnt pay for it so I ended up paying 75 bucks for it. Already it is working i guess, my smokes dont taste normal anymore. Kinda like i feel like i have to smoke more or take harder hits just to feel the same. I have a friend who smokes 3 or 4 packs a day and he has been on this stuff for about a week now and he is already down to 5 or 6 times a day. So heres to quitting i guess. Anybody else tried it yet?

Awake for 16 hours means he smokes one every 12 minutes, DAYAM :o

My GF's mom, dad and grandma live in the same house and all 3 light up a cigarette within a few minutes of putting one out. Sometimes the last cig is still smoking in the ashtray when the next one is getting lit. That house is insane and if I have to go over there I make sure I haven't showered yet and I'm not going anywhere afterwards because I'm going to smell like a ------- ashtray. I've been in my fair share of bars and casinos and never have I came out smelling as bad as I do when I leave their house. :S They're good people, but the smoke kills me. :l

i quit cold turkey with seeds and gum its been about six months. but my grandma recently died of lung cancer that was my motivation

Chantix is terrible stuff man. They used to test that stuff on Desert Storm vets at the VA hospitals. One of the vets from the DC area wrote a book called "Disposable Heroes" I think and it was about how the government tests drugs and other stuff on its soldiers.

Chantix fucked up the guy's brain. Like he got super paranoid and had hellacious nightmares and flashbacks and ----. Think of an LSD burnout with a TON of paranoia. I'd rather try hypnosis or stopping cold turkey 500 times before that Chantix ----.

took chantix last year around this time...after a few days my cigarettes tasted like ----, but I never actually cut down at all, after a month I stopped taking it.

Enjoy the mood swings/extreme anger/fucked up dreams (if you can sleep)/terrible gas/shitting your brains out/constantly feeling as though you are seconds away from puking....oh the list just keeps going. :)

took it for a month but couldnt afford the $200 for the second/third month dose
cut back to bout a pack in 3 days and have been there since

dreams will ---- your world up
make sure you watch a comedy or get laid before you pass out are my best options to give ya

oh and you will blow the seal on your ass with the stuff

When I quit smoking. I just decided to quit and did. I used to smoke a pack and a half a day. Will power conquers all hands down. Make the choice to do it and grow a pair.

My mom took it for a while, stayed a non smoker for maybe four months.

Grow some ------- willpower, quit looking for something to do the quitting for you.

A guy i work with stopped smoking for about 2 months on it. Stopped taking it and is smoking again. :-\

Jesus Christ you just quit. Nicotine is like all done in what 72 hours everything after 3 days is allllllll in your noggin. Just use gum or bottles of watter to stave off the oral and hand fixation and you're good.

Isnt Chantix the one that blocks your pleasure receptors and makes pretty much any activity drab? yeah im good, its just a cig I dont need Brain chemical altering drugs.

Well i already noticed that it does make me more irratable. I was working cell block and the littlest ---- would set me off. I was acting like one of those ------- prison gaurds on tv lol. And it sucks cuz even after i start getting the cravings for a cig after a couple hours, when i do smoke it doesnt feel like im smoking. Just leaves my throat raw. today is only day 3 though, so maybe it will get better. havent had any problems with gas or shitting, but i still havent had to double my dose just yet.

Just try not smoking. Like for real. No bullshit "I'll just have one a day" if you really want to quit then ------- make yoru mind up and dont fuckign smoke for like 5 days. You'll see that after 3 days of not having one cig you will be just fine. then its all about breaking the habits like after meals or when you wake up.

yeah and i did that ---- for about 4 years of the 7 i was on the ---- the only thing he didnt list was hot cold sweats and muscle spasms , ---- didnt eat for 5 days sucked ass will never go through that ---- agin still have trouble sleeping at night..

Thats a fuckload of APAP, ever hear of cold water extraction, man. If youre gonna get high do it a bit safer. Personally vicodin sucks ass, I took 10-14 once and i felt nauseated, and the high wasn't worth the shitty feeling. CWE is fun though, extract about 15 of em and dry out the water, leaves you with pure hydrocodone.

Never knew about the experimenting on the war vets that's just wrong. IIRC the FAA banned pilots and air traffic controllers from taking it due to its side effects (and not the stupid ones like nausea and headaches) but more like it giving people the crazies.

I had a perfectly normal stable minded friend end up in a psychiatric ward for 4 weeks as the doctors thought he was a paranoid schizophrenic... and the cause was quickly found to be due to the Chantix but they had to keep him for observation. He hasn't had an episode since cessation of Chantix over a year ago. Phizor only tells you the most common symptoms in their ads... you have to do a little digging to find out all the possible side effects which is not easily accessible on their main website advertising the garbage.

I wasn't even trying to stop smoking a few years back when I was prescribed Wellbutrin (aka Zyban) for depression BS and I wanted nothing to do with cigs even without even wanting to quit after only a week of being on it. If I tried to smoke I would take a drag then want to puke... but it also has some nasty side effects. I stopped taking it after 3 weeks due to an epileptic seizure that was most likely caused by the meds. Haven't had a seizure since I stopped taking it and its a side effect that Glaxosmithkline took awhile to admit to.

The bottom line is the pharmacokinetics of these drugs is not ENTIRELY UNDERSTOOD. Sure they might make you not want a smoke but who knows what else their doing to all the receptors in your brain. Their just cigs. I would go cold turkey, gum, or patches unless your feeling lucky.

Seizures accompanying Wellbutrin have been known of since before the FDA approved the drug, it just works so well that they either give you a super light dose or co-prescribe a barbituate (typically Neurontin) to go with it.

i have herd come cwe but most of the time i took them while working so couldnt do that in a work place , i know wat ya mean about the nausea the first time i took more then the norm that ---- made me sick then mellowed me way the ---- out and i was hooked, built up my tollerance and was fucked from there hahah

At the time I was trusting the doctors and never did my own personal research which I learned my lesson the hard way on that. I was on 4 mg of Lorazepam daily and it apparently didn't help... probably because the sad excuse of a doctor I was seeing had me on 400mg daily of Wellbutrin which I believe is close to if not the maximum recommended dosage.

The guy that wrote Disposable Heroes said he took himself off the medication because he was getting weirded out, then his doctor convinced him doubling the dosage would make it better.. it didn't.

If you need pills to quit smoking, I recommend opiates.

You'll need a lot. Not only will you feel better than ever and get seriously nauseated with each cigarette, but you'll have a sweet, expensive addiction!

all you need is just hella seeds and gum.... thats all that i needed. i smoked 2 packs a day.

There really isnt anything to do but smoke while being stuck in traffic....


im all good now.....i may have a hit or 2 every few days though

Ok todays the big day. Been up since six this morning doing nothing and craving like hell, but still havent smoked yet. Its almost noon now and i have to go to work soon and I cant smoke there. Hopefully I dont ---- up.

I want to smoke one so bad. I had my girl throw all mine away and hide the lighters so i cant ---- up. Im leaving late for work so i wont have time to stop by the store and pick any up. Just two more days and ill be in the clear.
