Re:CBR 900????
its funny that i see this topic since i just spent a week in the hospital after i crashed my 94 cbr600. bikes are fun and if you are just starting out i would recommend you get a 600. just watch out for stupid people which i unfortunatly didnt i was turning right on to bruce b. downs here in tampa i had a green light the guy who flipped the u turn did not i swerved to miss his car and hit a curb at 45 mph. fractured the nose in four places, broke my left wrist, dislocated my shoulder and have enough road rash to last me a life time. if you get it dont be stupid start out slow an dont die

Re:CBR 900????
you say you won't haul *** with it. i said the same thing to myself many times. as soon as you get on it, i gurantee your gonna at least hit 140 maybe on the third or fourth ride. you'll pull up to some chick and take off. believe it's gonna be really tempting.

Re:CBR 900????
The 600's are bad *** for their size ,my first bike was a 400. As for laying it down there are two kinda riders those that been down( me) and those that are going down. Bikes aren't that dangerous its just the ******* not paying attention and some of the riders that think they are bad *** by showing off. Be careful on them though i have been in 3 fairly bad accidents ,none i wasn't able to walk or limp away from though . It fucked up my lower back ,ankle ,and knee that was like 5 some years ago and i still have a few problems but getting better . Just BE CAREFUL i already lost enough friends on them don't wanna lose another ,exspecially over something stupid or preventive. As for insurance you guys got it made im paying close to 1000 a year for full coverage ,you mention harley and BAM everything jacks up...oh well. Im not worried about wrecking im worried about those damn deer

Re:CBR 900????
As already mentioned, BE CAREFUL. My brother was in a bad accident and barely survived. One of the worst phone calls I have ever received. Just remember it's not just you that will hurt from it, it's your whole family. I think I was more hurt than my brother. I just couldn't picture what life would be like without him. It's scary ----. I think about buying a bike all the time. I even looked at the 954RR and the new 1000RR the other day, but talked myself out of it for several reasons. It's not death that scares me, it's my family.

Re:CBR 900????
I've been riding one form or another bike since i was 6yrs old
I STRONGLY SUGGEST you not ride in rush hour(s) in a big city unless you HAVE to. I was doing this for a year in Miami and finally it caught up to me. I was laid up for a couple months when an SUV decided he needed to be in my lane, hit me @70mph and then drove off like nothing happened. Hell maybe he/she didnt even know they hit me. This was the 4th time I've been down in a serious mannor and the helmet saved my life for sure (again). Here is a picture of my helmet:
Notice the nice big chunk missing out of the forehead. The heavy jacket and gloves I was wearing spared me from any serious road rash except on my legs.. i was only wearing Khakis.
Proper safety equipment aside, a 900RR and most 750's can get away from a 'newbie' awfully fast! However if you keep your head on your shoulders and don't be a **** ... you'll be able to handle it.
The 600CC's of today put out WAY more than even my old 1996 GSX-R750 did Engine, weight and other technology are advancing so fast...
One of my first 'big' bikes was a 1984 Kawasaki GPz750 Turbo ... with a quick move of a vacuum hose it was 20psi of pure 750cc terror.. very scary bike! Lets talk about 5th gear @ 140mph rear tire breaking loose and other nutty ---- like that.

Re:CBR 900????
agreed, bikes scare me in general, my uncle steve was riding doing 75 and his front tire blew out, he flew off his bike and landed on a steel guard rail on his back, the rail pretty much cut him in half, severed his spine and he bled to death before the ambulance could get mthere.
