Cav in need of some serious help!!!

i just bought a 1998 cav 2.2L (6 months ago) and after racing a 1996 civic (turbo 8psi d16) i realized somthing
my car is really slow and i need performance advice i have a weapon cold air intake, a polished and ported head, full 2 1/4 exhaust to a magniflow muffler not cat a personaly customized map and a tein coilover kit the car is auto and after racing the civic i again remapped the ecu now with no speed limiter and a 7800rpm redline i was wondering what more can i do to boost power without boost and still run pump gas and is it safe to rev it to 7800 ( stock redline was 5650rpm ) as of now the car has 196whp and 182ft-lbs @5650rpm

Ive heard from multiple sources that the autotragics are stronger? Can anyone back up/negate this claim?

Turbocharge it for sure.

Re: Cav in need of some serious help!!!

its a pushrod cavy the only thing you can do to make it fast is push it off a cliff, you probually have a high 17second car right there. and I'm calling bs on the hp and trq. numbers unless if I see a dyno sheet with ya momma in the picture holding it. So tell me what software are you using to retune? plus I bet its real safe to raise the redline on a stock pushrod, pos engine designed for high school girls 2grand as well. Good work the the word domestic ricer is starting to come to mind. Considering your car stock made around 115hp at the flywheel and 140ft lbs of trq. your claims are bs ricer-jiberish. Boosted your car will still be slow, swap in an ecotec or a quad four and atleast that way you'll actually make some power.

Re: Cav in need of some serious help!!!

Not worth it. A guy turboed one here and laid numbers near a W41 stock. Find a Twincam instead, or an earlier Cavalier and swap a Quad into it.

Re: Cav in need of some serious help!!!

the ecu i'm using is a venom 400 and the software that came with it and as for 115hp and 140ft-lbs that's bull ---- the manual says 140hp and 155ft-lbs at the crank(about 108hp and 120ft-lbs at the wheels) and what exacly says ricer to u again is it the 15.5 1/4 @102mph or the fact that it has noo radio no body kit and 15 inch steel wheels?

mike94se 10-15-2006 10:56 PM

Re: Cav in need of some serious help!!!

No 2200 ever made that much power. I know

IndianRide 10-15-2006 11:00 PM

Re: Cav in need of some serious help!!!

time slip? btw dyno sheet? you should get a radio its nice to have, also isn't that venom 400 thing just that little pos that makes you run richer and does'nt actually increase power and has no adjustability as far as I know. I'm guessing ricer based on you claims, and no 2200 has never made that much power especially a 98 I know this for a fact and my good friend has a boosted 2200 auto cavy his name on here is volumeking333, guess what he also has a ported head too, before it was boosted he could barely beat my winter beater 94 hyundai scoupe which was probually an 18second car. I'm claiming ricer based on your claims with no proof

mike94se 10-15-2006 11:03 PM

Re: Cav in need of some serious help!!!

The Venom doesn't do ---- at all but light up. Utter crap

Re: Cav in need of some serious help!!!

just because you run 15psi doesnt mean you make 400hp.

didn't first grade teach you anything ???

i seem to have misplaced my ITB hp gains, isn't it around +150hp just from this?

by the sounds of it, you must live somewhere in the middle of arkansas where the fastest thing is a john deere corn binding its way down the field

actually your far off, you obviouslly don't know who the skinny man is O0 welcome to hmt time for some hazzing
I drive a 1988 dodge shadow es that runs 9.23 in the 1/8th and 14.62 in the 1/4 going for low 14's here in a few weeks
my old car was a 1993 honda accord lx that had the dsm turbo setup on it and liked to blow up, it was on the turbo projects section before the hard drive crashed
if you'd like I'd give you a whole list of all my old cars but most were just beaters, would you like a video of the shadow?
also where is the proof of your 15 second run and dyno numbers?

hold up you I just noticed you said 15.4 at 102mph with that mph even with a bad 60ft you should be in the high 13's :l umm btw I go drag racing alot can you explain that one?

cornfuzed 10-15-2006 11:23 PM

Re: Cav in need of some serious help!!!

yeah my 60ft was like 2.75sec and i spun for about 90 untill i hit 3rd ( i launched in second so i dodn't spin and bounce off the revlimiter like an idiot ( at the time the rev box was set a 5650rpm) and that comes up fas in a L4 with torque not like a honda 190hp and like 110ft-lbs

cornfuzed 10-15-2006 11:28 PM

Re: Cav in need of some serious help!!!

and by the way skinnye that pic what is that turbo for it is ------- huge?

lol so your telling me that with your claimed 180ftlbs of trq. you spun the tires up to 90mph, which would be well past the 1/8th mile which I would be surprised to see a pro mod car do spin them that long. I have 170lbs of trq at 8psi I race at around 14 psi hitting around 5 to 8lbs when I launch it( bring the car up to the stall) and I can pull off a 2.0 60ft on street tires(drag radials) on my dry rotted goodyear wingfoots I was getting 2.3 60fts. Also how do you launch the car in second gear with an automatic tranny? unless if you have a manual valve body. Also since you have a 98 cavy it has a 3spd auto, I also have a 3 spd auto and I can tell you right now if I could find a way to launch my car in second gear I would bog like an sob. You should stop while your behind
