for overall reliability i would go focus. they can be pretty fun too.

if your just ------- around with it get an older neon. light as ---- and you can make them handle with a little work

Focus have a variant of the Mazda B engine = billet/forged crank and an iron block [sic].

The only problems they have occasionally/regularly are electrical, i.e. ignition things. Tranny is a Mazda unit as well I believe, gearing not unlike the old Kias.

thats cause they DO suck ass, its just the lesser piece of ---- when compared to the neon... anyone here will agree a toyota or honda will be 10x more reliable.

Yeah, toyota bitched because it was "initial quality" they were talking about. The funny thing is, back when toyota was on its reliability throne, "initial quality" was the same factor they were touting. Now they're bitching when ford does the same thing.

I`ve driven both and If i had to choose I`d pick the focus.

As a DD I`d get the 2.0 push rod engine, its pretty peppy for what it is, enough low end power around tow.The ride is more cushioned then the neon, yet it handles pretty good for what it is that it actually surprised me.

But within the price range I`d buy a corolla instead, they are better car over all and the least likely to break down.
