I was drivin down the road the other day, and saw one of those, ''I wonder what that car has in it'' cars for sale on the side of the road. I stop and its a Toyota Corolla Hatch, a FX16. I look at the dash, noticed th tach, and it red-lines at like 7200, so I had to pop the hood. I popped the hood, and low and be hold, a 4AG-E.
Its FWD, and only has like 100K on it. The bad side, AUTOMATIC!

I think it would make a fun, just to ---- with car, or rip out the motor, and sell it. Humm.....what do you think.
BTW< I could get the car for probably no more than 300 bucks. Its a rust free car, just an auto. :(

The 4age is like the B16 of hondas. 4cyl that can produce ---- loads of power, with little mods, can handle alot of boost, 15lbs stock, and I might be wrong with this, but the only difference in the USDM and the JDM is the cam. Also, there is a JDM version with a 20 valve. Its rated at 180HP i think. the car Im lookin at is rated at 160hp, but that auto sure does bring it down. I could sell the engine for probably $4-$500 bucks. Im gonna go see, maybe it isnt even worth it at all.

Im not really 100% up to speed with these, I just know the 4age is a bad ass motor.

Like I said before, and maybe i didnt, i also know of an 86 corolla for like 1300 bucks, I might see if he'll take payments? He might?!

4-age is played out, if you were getting a AE86, then i'd say go for it, but a front wheel drive auto? you'd have more fun in a 6 speed 4 wheel drive toyota tercel wagon.

They are hard to find and usally you have to bug the ---- out of them to get them to sell it. Usally they dont have forsale signs in them, you just find them. Know what I mean?

You will not be able to run 15lbs on a stock blue top 4AGE US or JDM, rods simply cannot take it. The 4AGZE on the other hand will be able to handle boost as it was a factory forced induction motor. As far as the 4AGE 20V, wiring them is a nightmare. They are sweet motors, have variable valve timming and individual throttle bodies.. Anyway, don't go to crazy with boost on a stock 4AGE. Oh, another difference between US and JDM 4AG's is the Us motors are MAF and the JDM motors are MAP.

I would suggest checking out www.club4ag.com and the mr2 owners club. Turbocharging these motors has been done and is well documented. http://www.mr2oc.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=2

Very good info there. I would probably just buy one of those cars and try to make a few bucks on it. have you seen them on ebay, a shitty AE86 will go for at least 3G.

I used to have an MR2. There is alot of potential with the 4AGE as NA. I had mine up to about 190whp @8k. Fun little motor.

I saw one that was primered, 180,000 miles, manual (of course), went for $3,700. Sell it on egay dude, you'll make mad money! Just include things like "great for drifting!" in the main description.

My FX used to be an automatic as well. No ------- problem. The clutch pedal/master cylinder is a separate bracket so you can just put it right in with some drilling. Plus, the autos had a bigger power booster. The shifter assembly bolts up the same under the console as the auto, and I'm talking basically any 87-92 FWD corolla shifter. The 4AGE in there has about 125-130 horsepower on a cold day, the US GZE's were rated at about 150. The GZE block for my FX is at the machine shop. I highly recommend you get that car. The FX-16's had cooler seats, swaybars, strut tower brace, cool cluster, all factory! I didn't even have a ------- tach.
