so is honda officaially entering the 'funny car' status?

Re:Canada's first all tube chassis FWD Honda..

Honda isn't doing much of anything. :P (money wise for racers)

Jeff, come on, the A/M forum? That's unexpected. I went to Battle last weekend and remembered why I don't like all motor cars. They scream so loud it sounds like they'll blow up in no time at all. :-\

They're not going to get far with a header with only 2 runners. Leave it to the Canadians :P

I wonder how much it would cost to build something like this?

Ive been dreaming of a car like this...

Re:Canada's first all tube chassis FWD Honda..

When you're going through all the work of making a tube chassis car, WHY make it FWD?
Also, I piss on "all-motor" tuners.

Re:Canada's first all tube chassis FWD Honda..

You guess are sooooooooooooo dumb. This car will easily hit 6's in the 1/4 mile, they're rockin' the gen 5676789372478237489723 altezza tail lights. :o

See, in racing there are these things called "classes" and making it RWD would put it in another class.

the car would be like a second faster if they droped the motor on the rear wheels.

Yup, building a FWD drag racer is like eating cereal with a fork. You finish eventually but it would be a lot faster to use the spoon.

Why use a 4 cyl instead of 8?
Why use an 8 cyl instead of a jet engine?
Why don't you make an a tube chassis RWD?
The questions are endless.
The fact is, they are doing a nice job on that car. First Canadian tube chassis and it's what they want. Not what other people want them to build.

well ----, I must be on the wrong forum then since most of us here have fwd cars.

baldur 08-15-2004 05:50 PM

Re:Canada's first all tube chassis FWD Honda..

There are lots of engines that work, how much power you make really just depends on the size of your turbocharger...
But fwd is just against all logic in drag racing, since all acceleration IS trying to move weight from the front wheels and put it on the back wheels, you just never get the same kind of traction and there are enough traction problems in powerful RWD cars.

Re:Canada's first all tube chassis FWD Honda..

You guys are so ------- ignorant..

FWD cars are coming a very long way. lets compare Pro FWD and Pro RWD classes a quick second.

http://www.saturnmotorsports.com/pix/ProFront.jpg

Lisa Kubo 7.821 @ 195.05

http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/2004...lson_hoyos.jpg

Nelson Hoyos 7.658 @ 181.79

PRO FWD is in mid 7's with almost 200mph trap speeds with 4cylinder engines.

http://www.stephanpapadakis.com/cars/images/rwd.jpg

Stephan Papadakis runs 6.779 @ 203.19 in pro RWD and this is a 6cylinder class, he is also the fastest RWD sport compact in the world.

FWD has come a very long way and it will be soon with fwd/rwd are going to be very close in times.

Egg Zachary!
All-motor FWD and RWD compete all the time. RWD bugs and mazdas seem to be the only competition for FWD Hondas.
Do a comparison with N/A cars Jeff.

Re:Canada's first all tube chassis FWD Honda..

what about front engine front wheel drive vs rear engine rear wheel drive.

Re:Canada's first all tube chassis FWD Honda..

just put a huge aluminum wing on your hood and then you don't have to worry about traction problems.

=) agreed, FWD and RWD cars compete in the same class "All Motor" (4cyls)

http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/2004..._Scheepers.jpg

http://www.nhrasportcompact.com/2002...us_padilla.jpg

Ken Scheeper & Jesus Padilla, who drive RX7's and Larry and Scott Kelly who drive the fastest RWD 4cylcs in the world. They compete with the fastest fwd cars like Scott Mohler and Leslie Durst. All their fastest ET's are low 10's and high 9's. Both FWD/RWD in the same class.

http://www.nhrasportcompact.com

It's all there about sport compacts, if you want to know more about the classes, how fast they are, whos kicking everyones ass check it out.

It would be so much fun to make a full tube chassis. I cant wait till im out of college and can have time for projects.

Re:Canada's first all tube chassis FWD Honda..

If you compare the trap speeds vs the ETs on FWD vs RWD cars, the RWD generally have much better times with the same trap speeds, because they launch harder and get better 60ft times.

RWD RX7 (Fastest NA RX7)

Leslie Durst
9.93 @ 134.99
FWD CRX (fastest NA Honda)

Looks pretty damn close to me ::)
