The way i did the rear bars coming down to a cross tube strut tower to strut tower i dont think is actually legal but the tech guy i talked to said they wont really say anything for a high ten second street car at the friday night street legal races.

Re: cage specs for race tracks
The more I look at those pics, the more I wish that we would have put the halo, dash bar, and front hoops in, and made it a full 8.50's cage (or the other part of the comp kit). (In ref to 90dx's cage)
On topic: To keep the back seat you just have to run the rear bars along the roof and then drop them down after the seat. I have seen some pics of this somewhere, but my memory fails me. If you pick up an NHRA rule book, you will have all the specs, but most are pretty vague. The main ones to note are:
-The cross bar between the main hoop has to be within 4" of the tops of your shoulders, but not above.
-The main hoop has to be certain distance from your head both up and out. (sorry I'm just doing it from memory from when we did 90dx's)
-The door bar has to cross midway between you shoulder and your elbow, when your arm is at rest by your side.
-All cage points must tie into the floor with a 6"x6"x1/8" plate (this is where 90dx's cage is illegal as we tied his into the rear strut support bar)
-The main hoop may be leaned either forward or back.
A 5point cage: Main hoop (2), Rear bars (2), driver side door bar (1) All to clearance, and weld specs obviously. Is the min spec you need to run 10.00 or 135mph, the later being the killer for us fwd guys. If you want to run faster then that you need to add the halo, the A pillar support bars, the main hoop crossbar support bars that look like this \/, and the dash bar. Oh and a passenger side door bar and window net. This will bring you to an 10 point and then you have to get it teched, when teched it will allow you to run 8.50's and over 135mph. This sounds like a lot more, but it is only like $200 for the basic roll bar and then another $70-90 for the front stuff iirc + a window net under $50.
If I were putting a cage in a "nice" car i.e not a race car. I would get a I think it is a Ken's custom cage as the fit up is supposedly excellent, it is still a DIY, but a lot better fit. The Comp eng one is good for what it is: $190cdn. If you are a real ballar you take it to a place like Dave @ Passenger, and he bends that ---- up on site, and it fits perfect is welded perfect, but it will cost ya $$$.
